Today, I am excited to introduce my newest digital quilt pattern, Sequenced!
Originally designed as a bonus quilt using the large quarter circle scraps left over from another quilt, Sequenced is expanded in this stand alone pattern to offer three sizes: lap, throw, and twin.
When we decide to come together as a community, it means we are agreeing to a set of rules and norms in the form of codes of conduct that serve as the basis of agreement for our interactions. These codes of conduct are often formed on a central idea that serves as the foundation that we build a community upon. Sequenced is a visual nod to the fact that we embrace many communities in our lives and that our unique identities are part of what makes the whole vibrant and alive.
Fabrics & Materials
The lap size cover quilt was made using Kona Cotton solids in Coral (Fabric A), Kumquat (Fabric B), and Purple (Background). The quilt layout is the same for each quilt size; finished block sizes vary (4″ finished for the lap size, 5″ finished for the throw size, or 6″ finished for the twin size).
Quilting
I quilted the cover quilt on my domestic Juki TL-2200 QVP Mini with coordinating 50wt Aurifil thread. The pairings of Kona Cotton and Aurifil that I used are:
- Fabric A: Kona Coral – 50wt Aurifil 2277 (Light Orange Red)
- Fabric B: Kona Kumquate – 50wt Aurifil 1133 (Bright Orange)
- Background: Kona Purple – 50wt Aurifil 1200 (Blue Violet)
To begin, I marked 1″ spaced arcs and straight lines using a combination of rulers an 1″ – 10″ quarter circle templates*. I stitched in the ditch around all of the quarter circles or circles and quilted all marked lines using a walking foot. After the walking foot quilting was complete, I finished adding dense back and forth quilting lines via free motion quilting. Alternatively, you could use your walking foot and quilt those lines with dense matchstick quilting instead.
*Notes:
- 1″ to 8″ perfect quarter circle templates I used to mark my quilting lines are included in the pattern. For larger curves, I demonstrate marking curves in my Tips for Using a Hera Marker YouTube video.
- If you are quilting a lap size quilt and following this same plan, 1″ through 8″ quarter circle templates will be needed and if you are quilting a twin size quilt following this same plan, 1″ through 12″ quarter circle templates will be needed.
Sequenced Pattern Details
The Sequenced digital quilt pattern is written at a confident beginner level. There is curved piecing, and for those new to piecing curves, I recommend starting with the throw or twin quilt size as they have larger and gentler curves to sew.
Sequenced Finished Measurements
Lap Quilt (48″ x 64″
Throw Quilt (60″ x 80″)
Twin Quilt (72″ x 96″)

Very bold and beautiful finish. Congrats on the new pattern publication.
Beautiful combination of colors and I love how your quilting really shows off the design so well. Very nice!
This looks like a fantastic bundle, and a great price, so I’ve already purchased it! All of the patterns are first class.
For me, it’s nice when a quilt pattern includes more than one size, but not just by adding more blocks, so this is a good value for a striking design.
I first saw this while sitting in the Paris airport, waiting for our (delayed) plane to take off. It was a nice bright pop of color then and still is, a few days later, when I was able to read this on the larger screen. Congrats on a new pattern, and on the pattern bundle of curves. Sequenced is such a great quilt, and in great colors! (And I’m still in awe that you knot and bury all your threads…a habit I need to develop.)
This is so beautiful! I love the colors … it’s so visually striking, and the quilting is as usual, perfectly chosen, the back / forth dense lines are a perfect contrast to the wider lines. It looks like you put so much work into it!
