#2026QuiltingCheckIn Q1

Have you seen that Melanie Meyer has taken over the quarterly quilting goal check in link up party? To support the transition to the new host, I’m linking up to the #2026QuiltingCheckin Q1.

Q1 (January – March) 2026 Review

In terms of quilt finishes, I think this quarter is one of the busiest quarters I’ve ever had as a quilter. Some of that is due to the fact that I waited to share about a new series of quilts that I created last year. A lot of it is thanks to kicking off the year with Project Quilting and the Stay at Home Round Robin.

2026 Project Quilting Finishes

2026 Project Quilting Finishes

I was able to complete something for all 6 Project Quilting prompts this year:

Granadilla

Granadilla

This year was the first year I participated in the Stay At Home Round Robin. I mostly worked on this quilt in the weeks between Project Quilting prompts, and I had a blast sewing along with the prompts. Granadilla is my quilt finish, and I am loving getting to use it at night when I am reading and winding down for the day.

This quarter I was also able to finish a bed quilt that I had promised to make for my in-laws about 2 years ago. I really appreciate their patience with me and hope they get lots of use and enjoyment out of the Highland quilt.

Exposed Seams Quilt Series

Exposed Seams Quilt Series

I was proud to get to share the beginning of a new quilt series based on a new piecing technique I developed last year. I call the method and series “Exposed Seams”, and it was an honor to have two of my first pieces on display at QuiltCon in Raleigh this year.

Also, I was honored to receive a first place ribbon at QuiltCon this year for my quilt, Frost Filigree.

Q1 (January – March) 2026 Reflection

I stayed really busy quilting this quarter, and I do not expect to be able to keep up that pace throughout the rest of the year. After sewing some charity blocks for Many Hands and Many Hearts, my two goals this quarter will be to work on writing new patterns and to start the next quilt in the Exposed Seams quilt series.

I appreciate the creative burst of energy that the Project Quilting and Stay At Home Round Robin challenges provided for the beginning of the year, but I am looking forward to regrouping after all of those sprints to meet deadlines. I’m also hoping that my husband and I are able to schedule some vacation and travel.

Whatever you might be working on or going through in life, I hope that you are able to navigate a path that allows you some time to honor your creativity.

Though it’s understandable how all those Q1 deadlines added up, it’s great you were able to accomplish so much. Wishing you well as you head into a more low-key time working on projects you’re excited about.

  2. You had a great first quarter, Yvonne! Beautiful projects.

  3. Thanks Yvonne! And I love the projects you posted/completed this quarter. It was productive and impressive with two QuiltCon entries. I hope you have a great second quarter according to your plans. Vacation/ Travel sounds awesome. And I do know very well how much time goes into pattern writing. I hope you can enjoy both and look forward to what you show us next. xo

  4. Great start to the year! It’s wonderfully satisfying seeing all that you were able to get done. I look forward to seeing you the new designs!

  5. How fabulous that Mel has taken over. Your first quarter was fun and I am so glad to see all that you accomplished. It will be fun to see how the rest of your year develops and what patterns you have coming along. I do love your exposed seams, so I am excited to see the next one!

I love “round-up” posts, as it helps give an overview of the industry we’ve seen stretched out over weeks and months. And your industry this past while has been especially productive and artful. Thank you for showing all these in aggregate!

You had a very productive first quarter. You did a lot more than I did first quarter and I felt that it was too much. Good luck with your goals for second quarter.

I really appreciate the time and thought you take to comment, and I look forward to conversing with you. :)
