I am so glad that I joined the 2026 Stay At Home Round Robin. It was such a treat to sew along with the prompts, and I am thrilled with how my quilt came together. Today, I’m pleased to share my finished quilt, which I have named Granadilla.
Granadilla
A granadilla is a sweet, aromatic tropical fruit known for its bright orange, yellow, or yellowish-orange rind. Because of the range off colors of the fruit mirrors the range of colors in the quilt top, I thought it was a fitting name. And in case you are curious, a granadilla is closely related to passion fruit (they are both members of the Passiflora family).

For the quilting, I free motion quilted a stipple / meander in an all over design. The quilting shows up quite nicely on the backing. The quilt finished at 64″ wide by 76″ tall.

I opted for a dark navy with yellow moon and star print for the binding. The print is Charcoal Nightfall from the Sting Like a Bee line for Dear Stella Designs.

The background solid is Kona Cotton in Snow, so I used 50wt Aurifil in 2021 (Natural White) for the quilting. I think it blends in really well with all of the different prints and colors used in the quilt.

I asked my husband to try to capture a more natural photo of me being silly in front of the finished quilt. I think this photograph captures the fun and joy I felt as I made it.

Wonderful quilt! So “you” in a “not you” color scheme! Very well thought out; in my experience many RR quilts don’t always have such a cohesive look. The quilting, the backing, and the name are perfect.

Can we have favorites in this SAHRR 2026? If I’m allowed, yours is one of mine (I have several). The name is perfect given the colors in your quilt (and I had to go look up what that fruit is, and learned all about it). I love this so much. Your use of color and gradient was exquisite. And that blue binding was such a fun surprise. For some reason, I was imagining the quilt as much smaller, so that’s been fun to see how large it is too. I’m so glad you enjoyed being a part of SAHRR.

This is such a wonderful quilt finish Yvonne! I absolutely love the backing (!!) and the binding is that perfect pop to frame the entire thing. I love the way the colour makes your eye rove around the quilt and the variety of shapes pull your eye into the centre. So glad you joined in!

A lovely ombre finish! It was fun to read back and see how this progressed over the weeks. I admit I was surprised at the last border of blocks because so many curved ones had been employed throughout but agree they finish off the quilt nicely. You also give me hope that despite watching all the SAHRR fun all these years, I might finally participate some day!

Wow! The first thing I thought of when I saw your quilt was it looked like Citrus colors and then you called it Granadilla, which is a new fruit name to me. It’s such a beautiful and happy looking quilt.

It turned out beautifully! I’m amazed that the natural white thread blended so nicely with the darker fabrics. I’ve never heard of the granadilla fruit. Now I want to try one!
A fun finish with a fun name. You would never guess that your SAHRR wasn’t planned from the beginning, all the borders work so well together.

You must be so pleased with how this finished. Just think. You had no idea what it would be when you started, and now you have a wonderful quilt with all that color fading in and out around it. And the unexpected spark of navy in the binding is chef’s kiss. I’m glad you chose to do the SAHRR this year.

Granadilla is stunning, Yvonne. I really love the gradient color placement and all the curves. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a granadilla fruit in our area, but I can certainly see why you chose that name for your quilt.
