I was thrilled when Wendy asked us to “show off our curves” as her prompt for the 4th round of the Stay At Home Round Robin (SAHRR) this week. I have a lot of curves in my quilt top already, so I knew I wanted take the time to think about a different kind of curved piecing to use in response to her prompt.
2026 SAHRR Round 4 – Piecing
After mocking up several ideas in Inkscape, the design software I use, I settled on making arcs. The arcs require sewing two curves per block, and I chose to use 4″ finished curves for the inner curves and 6″ finished curves for the outer curves. I made a few test blocks and found I had better piecing accuracy if I pieced the smaller curves first.

In addition to the 6″ finished blocks, I also added a 2″ finished background strip to the top and bottom, which brings my quilt up to 48½” wide by 56½” tall. *Post updated on Sunday morning with a better photo in natural light.

Wow, Yvonne! I love how your SAHRR is coming along. I really like the use of the arcs for this round. They play well with all the curves already in your quilt. This looks fantastic.
The arcs turned out beautifully. You could definitely name this quilt “Curves in all the Right Places”. Or “Learning Curve”?
Very nice. Very curvy throughout. I’m guessing you will figure out a curve for the next round also.
I like the shift from more delicate pieces to fuller shapes. And your color movement is amazing. I like the way it occasionally tosses a red into the green area. You could have skipped this prompt, having so many, but your quilt is better for the addition.
