2026 SAHRR Center Block

Center Block {2026 SAHRR}

I have watched from the sidelines for several years as friends participate (and help run) the Stay At Home Round Robin (SAHRR). This year, I decided to jump in. I will play catch up every other week if I choose to participate in Project Quilting Prompts, but the timing for making the 2026 SAHRR center block fell perfectly in between the first and second prompt for Project Quilting Season 17, so I took that as a sign to go for it.

The first thing I did this week was select the fabric I want to work with. For the background, I’m using Kona Snow, and I thought working with warm colors from red through chartreuse would be a fun challenge. With my fabric selected, I drafted up a plan for a center block which required piecing (64) quarter circle blocks. I dithered for about a day on whether to make the quarter circles finish at 3″ (the center block would finish at 24″) or 4″ (the center block would finish at 32″), but I knew the right choice was to make 3″ finished blocks. So on Thursday I cut all my fabric and got started.

I made great progress on Friday and woke up today needing to only sew 15 seams to finish the quilt block.

I’m really happy with how the block came together (check it out side by side with the design below)! I do suspect that I won’t get back to figuring out what comes next until after I finish the next Project Quilting prompt. I’m curious to see how this evolves!
