2025 Quilting Goals Review

When I set my initial 2025 Planning goals, I knew that I was going to be starting a new part time (20-30 hours a week) job in February, and I wasn’t sure how that might impact my quilting time. So I set an initial set of goals that I was thankfully able to more or less complete this year:

  1. Host the Effervescence Quilt Along
  2. Host the Favorite Finishes Monthly Linkup
  3. Complete my WIPs
    1. Frost Filigree
    2. Effervescence
    3. Signal Trace
  4. Participate in Project Quilting Season 16
    1. Regeneration – PQ16.1 Mythical Creatures
    2. Good Vibes – PQ16.2 Ombre
    3. Stormy Climate – PQ16.3
    4. Sapphire Mug Rug – PQ16.4
    5. Curse This Evil Dumpster Fire – PQ16.5
    6. Button It Up – PQ16.6
  5. Enjoy Quilting Glimmers – I made several quilts this year that I can’t wait to share with you soon; they were big quilting glimmers!!
  6. Appreciate Daily Joys – The past few weeks in particular I have delighted in getting to see rainbows, hike through historically rich locations with petroglyphs that are over 2,000 years old, and generally enjoy slowing down and getting to spend quality time with my husband.

I added a few more goals along the way during the year:

  • Continue to remember to get in the photo with every quilt finish (thanks, Debbie!).
    • I generally have been pretty good about this, but it’s always helpful to remind myself this is something I want to keep doing!
  • Finish 2 quilts to submit to QuiltCon (with a stretch to finish and submit 3).
  • Start piecing my in-laws new bed quilt (Highland Quilt).
    • I’ll be back with an update on this progress soon!

Looking forward to 2026, my goals are loosely:

  1. Finish piecing the Highland Quilt for my in-laws, send it out for quilting, bind, and deliver it to them.
  2. Participate in at least one Project Quilting Season 17 prompt.
  3. Consider participating in the 2026 Stay At Home Round Robin (SAHRR).
  4. Continue Hosting the Favorite Finishes Monthly Linkup (new yearly button shown below!).
  5. Experiment with an improv piecing idea I didn’t have time for in 2025 (potential QuiltCon submission?).
  6. Enjoy Quilting Glimmers (if something else really captivates me, then that will be better to work on than goal #5!).
  7. Appreciate Daily Joys.

The first Favorite Finish linkup of 2026 will open on January 26th!

Linking up with the #2025QuiltingCheckIn.

Great goals for 2026. I can’t wait to see what your improv idea is. Happy new year!

  2. You were incredibly productive around your part time job! I stopped doing goals after I retired. But I do have an aspiration to do more smaller projects this year and not so many bed size quilts. I plan to make one QOV for a friend, and that is it for goals.

yvonne, that stormy climate quilt just speaks to my heart, not sure but there is something calm, yet totally alive in it. any chance of a pattern? wonderful.

I’d say you did really good making and achieving your goals, which is really inspiring. I was debating about the 2026 Stay At Home Round Robin (SAHRR) too. hmmm.

Congrats on the many goals you completed in 2025! Here’s to a great 2026. I’ve never heard of Project Quilting, now I’m curious!

  6. Always good to have direction. Loose goals, for me, is the ticket after years and years of teaching, where goals and objectives and strategies and linking to curriculum and quarterly in-person meetings to discuss (shiver) was very heavy, despite the original good intent. I read a really good Yin-mindset towards resolutions and goals which I’ll share in a post soon. I think you’ll appreciate it but it turns goal setting upside down. You’ve had a good year, and 2026 looks to be another!

You had a good year, managing to balance going back to work with your quilting time. Good luck with your goals for 2026. It would be fun to see your take on the SAHRR. It’s a fun challenge, but I’m going to try hard to limit my sewing time on it this year.

  9. You did really well with your goals. Love that graphic of your WIPs and so in awe of your Quilt Con entries. Your goals for this year sound quite doable, and it would be fun to see you participate in the SAHRR.

  10. I love how thoughtful and intentional you are. its very inspiring. and hiking thru the petroglyphs – WOW! Color me jealous!! Love that you are able to do this.
