Signal Trace
2025 Finished Quilts

Signal Trace {Finished Quilt}

Yesterday, I was able to complete one of my yearly goals: I finished the final of 3 WIPs that I had at the beginning of 2025. I shared about the Signal Trace pieced quilt top on October 6th of 2024, but due to other commitments and time constraints, it kept falling to the bottom of my to-do list.

Last Tuesday, we received about 1″ of rain locally and the mountains ringing town had a dusting of snow at the tops. So I wanted to take the finished quilt out into our still beautiful and blooming front garden to capture the last flowers of the season.

Signal Trace - Backing

The solid backing, FreeSpirit Solids in Pomegranate, shows off the rounded robot quilting.

The quilt finished at 48″ square, which may make it perfect in the future as a baby quilt or a lap quilt.

Signal Trace - Binding

Signal Trace – Binding

The binding is a Ruby Star Society print by Alexia Marcelle Abegg: Ooh Lucky Lucky Mini Dot in Turquoise. The dots were beautifully space and I used them to guide my hand binding to the back of the quilt.

Want to make your own Signal Trace quilt? My Signal Trace digital quilt pattern offers 4 sizes (wall, baby, throw, and queen), and it is the perfect design for using up your scraps or Fat Quarter bundles.

  1. What a lovely finish, Yvonne! You had a perfect day for photos, too, with those pretty flowers!

Congrats on the lovely finish. Love seeing your flowers as ours are all done for the year.

I love the graphic look of this quilt and your name for it is awesome! The pomegranate backing is an interesting choice as it goes wonderfully with the top, it doesn’t appear in the top and isn’t a neutral.

  4. Kate says:

A beautiful finish. I’m not sure if it sets off the wildflowers or it’s the other way around. Congrats on the finish and on meeting one of your goals for the year.

  5. Congratulations on finishing Signal Trace and finishing up the UFOs. I love the low volume prints and teal combination – stunning. The backing looks great with the quilting; it is always nice to show that off with a solid backing. I love when you can check one more thing off the list!

  6. Congrats on your long-awaited finish! I really like your design; the quilting suits it perfectly and you nailed it. Kudos for how well you managed the directional background fabrics, well done!

Hooray for a finish, especially after it’s been waiting a long time. I smiled when I saw your post — you and I are on the same wavelength with our timing and our designs, although they are very different. I love the brilliantly colored back on that creamy white and blue; it does show off your quilting superbly!

  10. Well as much as I LOVE the turquoise on the front, I just adore the surprise pomegranate backing even more! Wonderful finish and yay for that rounded robot motif! I love the photo of you with it amongst the pretty flowers in your garden.

  11. Congrats on your finish. It’s a wonderful pattern, and the quilt turned out beautifully.

Such a pretty finish, Yvonne! I love the turquoise & text print combo, the quilting, that adorable binding and the floral photos!!! I guess that means I love everything about this quilt!
