Emotions drive our perception of time: boredom, sadness, anxiety, fear, and stress all make us perceive time as being slow while happiness, joy, excitement, engagement, and interest all make time feel like it is moving swiftly. As I start to reflect back on Q3 in relation to my quilting goals, it is amazing to me that we are already into the 4th quarter of the year and at the same time, this year has felt heavy and long. So interesting to consider how emotions help form these perceptions.
So, with that being said, it’s time to look back on my 2025 Planning post and the additional goals I set for myself in the 2025 Q2 Check In and reflect on my quilting in the third quarter of 2025.
Goal 1: Host the Effervescence Quilt Along – Completed in Q3
The quilt along officially wrapped up at the end of July and the Effervescence quilt pattern is now available as a regular digital quilt pattern in my pattern shop.
Goal 2: Host the Favorite Finishes Monthly Linkup
So far, so good!
- January – 13 linkups
- February – 15 linkups
- March – 14 linkups
- April – 10 linkups
- May – 13 linkups
- June – 10 linkups
- July – 14 linkups
- August – 14 linkups
- September – 5 linkups
The October Favorite Finishes linkup will open on October 27th.
Goal 3: Complete my WIPs

Signal Trace – Backing Fabric
I made no progress on my third WIP, Signal Trace, in Q3, but yesterday I picked out backing fabric (FreeSpirit Solids in Pomegranate) and the thread I’ll use to quilt Signal Trace. If I’m lucky, I might have something to link up as a favorite finish this month!
- Effervescence – Finished (Q2)!
- Frost Filigree – Finished (Q1)!
- Signal Trace (make a backing, baste, quilt, bind)
Goal 4: Participate in Project Quilting Season 16
Completed in Q1.
Not only did I participate, I surprised myself by making a baby quilt for 5 of the 6 prompts. Oh, and technically I did not meet the deadline for the final prompt, but I had a great time and got it finished anyway!
- PQ16.1 Regeneration
- PQ16.2 Good Vibes
- PQ16.3 Stormy Climate
- PQ16.4 Sapphire Mug Rug
- PQ16.5 Curse This Evil Dumpster Fire
- PQ16.6 Button it Up
Goal 5: Enjoy Quilting Glimmers

Push Pull Mini Mini Quilt
For Q3, this is where the majority of my quilting efforts were focused. Overall, I finished 4 quilts in Q3, and the only one I can share about right now is the Push Pull Mini Mini quilt. It may be small, but it was delightful to make. I also finished 3 quilts (2 mini quilts and 1 larger quilt) using a new piecing idea. Last Friday, I submitted the large quilt to QuiltCon into the Piecing category and one of the mini quilts into the Small Quilts category. It was delightful to work on my idea, and I look forward to getting to share the idea and these quilts with you early next year.
Goal 6: Appreciate Daily Joys
Highlights of my Q3 include getting a few rainy days that included beautiful rainbows, walks with friends, and the delightfully mild summer weather (we had less than 10 days with highs in the 90s and no days in the 100s this year)!
Q1 and Q2 Recap Additions
- Continue to remember to get in the photo with every quilt finish (thanks, Debbie!).
- In Q4, I finished and shared about a mini mini quilt, but I did not take a photograph of myself with it before mailing it off to its recipient. I did just get a photograph of myself with the large quilt finish that I submitted to QuiltCon, so I’m glad I remembered to do that!
- Finalize fabric for my in-laws new bed quilt, make a test block, and think about whether it’s worth getting templates made.
- Success! I have opted to have my husband make templates using his 3D printer, so now I need to make another test block or two and see how those templates work. Stay tuned!
- Finish 2 quilts to submit to QuiltCon.
- Success! I am thrilled to have met this goal.
Stretch Q2 goals:
- Finish a 3rd quilt to submit to QuiltCon.
- I did submit a 3rd quilt, but it’s not the quilt I was thinking of when I created this goal. Maybe next year??
- Start piecing my in-laws new bed quilt.
- I am sure I can get started in Q4!
I am very excited that my secret sewing is complete, and I look forward to getting back to a place where I can share my progress on a more regular basis.

Linking up with #2025QuiltingQ3CheckIn.

You’ve had a good year on the goals front, especially considering all the other changes in your life this year. Good luck with your 4th quarter goals, the end of the year will be here before we are ready for it!
I agree with Kate, you’ve had a good year amidst changes. I enjoy reading your updates. It encourages me to be more thoughtful about setting goals and enjoying my projects.
In spite of everything, it was a productive quarter – especially with the creating and finish of your secret quilts!
Congrats on your QUiltCon submissions!! Go you!
