Color Block Stars Charity Blocks, Part 1

At the end of August, Cynthia (Many Hands and Many Hearts) shared her latest charity block request: color block stars. Cynthia noted that this is the first time she has requested star blocks for a charity block drive!

Color Block Stars – Pieces Cut

I am in the middle of working on a quilt that I am hoping to have done in time to submit to QuiltCon, so my sewing machine is busy at the moment. But I needed a break from some repetition and took the time this week to get my pieces cut for the blocks I’ll make to send to Cynthia.

I passed a BIG milestone for my work in progress quilt (it’s basted and ready for quilting!!!), and I missed all the bright colors on my design wall. I used the opportunity and space to layout the color block star blocks. Once I get this WIP finished, I’ll be ready to stitch and flip the star points so I can get these blocks in the mail.

I wanted to share about my progress on these charity blocks in case you might want to join me in making some Color Block Stars to send in.

I know how it feels to look forward to what’s next while still being committed to the current project! Hope the quilting process on your project going well!

There’s a phrase going around socials: “lock in.” It refers (as I understand it) to setting long-term goals and locking in on them, but not attempting to do them all in one day. Increment steady progress is the key. But that doesn’t mean we can’t take a brain-refreshing detour once in a while! The colors are great fun, and probably a welcome sight. Good luck on the long-term quilt!

  3. I love the color block stars and plan to make a couple of them for this quilt block drive.

So glad you had time to make good progress on your Quilt Con project. Those star blocks are going to be fun to play with. Love the bold colors you choose.

  5. THose are fun colors!! we have been doing the same blocks for QOV as leader enders – they go together so nicely. Congrats on getting to the halfway mark on your other project

These are really fun blocks, and I am tucking this idea away for some of my stash. I am slow to respond these days, and don’t think I will get any blocks off this time, but I love seeing what you are doing!

Good day, I can’t thank you enough for introducing me to Many Hearts Many Hands. In a time I feel so ineffectual this has given my mind a focus and my heart a lift!

    Sincerely,
    Phyllis

I really appreciate the time and thought you take to comment, and I look forward to conversing with you. :)
