Free 48″ x 72″ Progress Rainbow Pride Pattern

A good friend reached out to me in June with a very specific request for a quilt pattern to make with a loved one. They were looking for a 4′ x 6′ sized quilt of the progress rainbow pride flag that uses the original rainbow pride flag 8 colors instead of 6. I quickly created a beginner level friendly pattern for them and I am happy to share the pattern with you for free.

Note this is not the most current progress rainbow pride flag, but something that I put together based on my friend’s specific request because this combination of elements has the most meaning for my dear friend’s loved one.

Thanks o much for this. I made an 18″ x 24″ one a couple years ago for a teens group. They hang up at their monthly meetings. This will be a newer edition.

hiii thank you for this. i love that in the picture/image, you’re indicating where the HSTs are so that a person could change it to different dimensions if they wanted — it’s very clear and accessible even before i click download!

as a queer, nonbinary quilter i appreciate this. and..as someone who came out as trans over twenty years ago, i appreciate you noting that this is not The Most Current And Consensed Upon Version because let’s be honest, it can be difficult to keep up! :) thanks.

i saw your email reply — also now i remember, the progress flag (or the Philly verson at least) has the black and brown horizontal as the top two stripes, right? for Black and Brown people/communities.
someone made a shareable quilt pattern for a Palestinian flag, but did it in a spreadsheet so that people could plug in the dimension they wanted to make and it would calculate how big the HSTs/etc would be. i’m sure i could find it if anyone wants… oooh i found where i wrote about this on my blog and shared a photo of a small one i made: https://couchcrafts.wordpress.com/2024/03/29/garden-intrigue-and-so-many-crafts/

Thank you for sharing. My daughter was looking for some gifts to make for Christmas, I think this would work for one of her good friends.

I really appreciate the time and thought you take to comment, and I look forward to conversing with you. :)
