I saw somewhere that not only are we officially over halfway through with this year, but we are now officially closer to 2050 than 2000. That is something that will take me a bit of time to wrap my mind around, because wasn’t 2000 yesterday or just a few years ago at most? Effervescence – Finished Quilt Next to Inspiration Quilt
Goal 1: Host the Effervescence Quilt Along
The quilt along is almost over, and it has been exciting this week to start to see photos of pieced (and even some fully finished) Effervescence quilts!
Goal 2: Host the Favorite Finishes Monthly Linkup
So far, so good!
- January – 13 linkups
- February – 15 linkups
- March – 14 linkups
- April – 10 linkups
- May – 13 linkups
- June – 10 linkups
The July Favorite Finishes linkup will open on July 25th.
Goal 3: Complete my WIPs
I finished 1 of the 3 WIPs in Q1 and a second one this quarter! I started the year with:
- Effervescence – Finished (Q2)!
- Frost Filigree – Finished (Q1)!
- Signal Trace (make a backing, baste, quilt, bind)
Goal 4: Participate in Project Quilting Season 16
Completed in Q1.
Not only did I participate, I surprised myself by making a baby quilt for 5 of the 6 prompts. Oh, and technically I did not meet the deadline for the final prompt, but I had a great time and got it finished anyway!

Tag Sale Floral – Finished Quilt
Goal 5: Enjoy Quilting Glimmers
For Q2, I have really been chasing some quilting glimmers and having fun. I was able to make a quilt, Tag Sale Floral, from my friend Michelle’s first book to help spread the news about her book, Not-Your-Typical Jelly Roll Quilts (congratulations, Michelle!!), I’m about to baste a mini quilt that tests out a new idea later today, and as always I enjoyed making charity blocks for Many Hands and Many Hearts.
Goal 6: Appreciate Daily Joys
Some days are better than others. Highlights of my Q2 include getting to spend time in person for my new job (I usually work remotely, but occasionally get to travel on-site) and the recent beautiful summer weather and long evening walks I take with my husband. Bonus points for days when I get to pet friendly cats when we are on our walks!
Q1 Recap Additions
In my Q1 check in post, I also added some Q2 hopes. Looking forward to Q2, I’d like to:
- Continue to remember to get in the photo with every quilt finish (thanks, Debbie!) – I continue to remember to do this, although my pace of finishes dropped off significantly in Q2.
- Finish my remaining 2 WIPs – 1 out of 2 finished.
- Start working on a new bed quilt for my in-laws – I finalized the design and got lots of great help on finding fabric!
Q2 Recap Additions
Looking forward to Q3, I’d like to:
- Finalize fabric for my in-laws new bed quilt, make a test block, and think about whether it’s worth getting templates made.
- Finish 2 quilts to submit to QuiltCon.
Stretch Q2 goals:
- Finish a 3rd quilt to submit to QuiltCon.
- Start piecing my in-laws new bed quilt.

You’ve had a good year! Hopefully you’ve been able to balance work with the quilting time, that’s often the hardest part of meeting one’s quilting goals. Good luck with your plans for the read of 2025.
