One of my Q2 goals was to start working on a new bed quilt for my in-laws. Well, we have a design. But I’m feeling a bit stuck on fabric choices, and I’m hoping you might be able to help me.

Bed Quilt Design
Above is the design that we have settled on in the four size options that I gave my in-laws for consideration. They have opted for the rectangular sizing with a small border (the upper right hand corner of the image above).
The design requires 4 greens in a gradient, and while I could definitely use solids for the design, just like I mocked up here, I would love to consider prints. I can find green prints that slide towards chartreuse or towards blue-green, but I am struggling to find a gradient of 4 true green prints. Have you seen any true green prints lately that I could consider?

Wish I could help, but I have not seen the kind of fabric you are describing in a true green. I wonder if a group of hand dyed fabrics might be worth considering? If you could find enough to do the quilt. If only Moda grunge came in more shades!
I don’t know of any fabric lines of prints that offer that type of gradation in one color. I have print scraps in my stash that would match that, but not all from one line. You might find what you are looking for in some of the Batik fabric lines. That’s one part of the quilt shop that seems to be the easiest to have success in if you are trying to do a graduated color scheme. Plus you can find some wonderfully brilliant colors with subtle prints in Batiks. Your design is really cool. Looking forward to seeing that project come together. (Batiks tend to be a bit “rigid”, they may not work well with curved piecing, one potential draw back).
Love the design. It looks like a fun and challenging sew! I’ve no recommendations on fabric but I wonder if you could get the gradient you want by mixing a print with solids.
That is a gorgeous design and right away I thought of Alison Glass fabrics, but when I looked there may be one or two that work. I also looked at Northcott blenders and they have some real greens, well at least on the screen, but they are not very print-y. I saw one or two in some of Northcott’s other lines (maybe one or two in Patrik Lose or Anna Marie Horner). I also saw a few in the Island Batik (Lumin now) blenders, as well as P& B fabrics and one or two in Moda. And lastly, I tried looking by color at Bear Creek Quilting (a few) and Hancock’s (a lot of pages to sift through). Good luck on the hunt!
Using a blend of shades and prints will help with this striking design. It will surely be the focal point in the room. Keep us up to date. Good Luck
PS green being my favorite color, I am thrilled with color choice
That is going to be a gorgeous quilt, Yvonne. I don’t know that I have any good suggestions on the green fabrics. I’m a fan of Stash Fabrics, so I’d probably spend some time hunting on their site. What about considering an ombre fabric, like V & Co? Not sure that would work, but thought I’d put that into the mix. Happy hunting!
Have you considered Grunge? It has at least 10 shades of green — probably more like 20. It’s not a print, but it does have texture. Just a thought.
That’s what I came here to say! ♥️ I love sewing with Grunge.
What a cool design!! I love it!! I have been very attracted to circular patterns lately. I just bought a line of fabrics-from Hancocks online. I was able to get three gradients of green in a grunge-like fabric. I am making a 3D quilt. The line is called Glaze from Andover fabrics. I did have to get one of the greens from Stash fabrics. The one complaint I have about fabric…no one seems to carry the whole line!! Can get frustrating!! Good Luck!!
I like the greens used by Kristy Lea in her previous fabric collections. So I took a look at the Riley Blake page, they have a line called Shabby that has some nice tonals, maybe combined with one or two designer prints? Looking forward to seeing how you solve this.
OMG!!!! Gorgoues!
Looks like you’ve got some great suggestions here. Not having been fabric shopping in some time, I’m not much help, though I love Kate’s suggestion of batik fabrics as the chops (not called a print) are not distracting and usually tone-on-tone, which is what I think you’re aiming at rather than actual prints. I love the design, and love the true green!
Have you considered Grunge? It comes in so many colors, you can probably find what you need.
Wow, what a fun design, Yvonne! I can’t wait to see what you come up with. It will be stunning!
that is a beautiful design – I am not sure bout the greens tho – I am not good knowing fabric lines – sorry
Wow– you have a lot of great suggestions here, but you may just have to spend time with the color search box in some of the online sites: I know Fat Quarter Shop has one; does Stash also have one? I find greens run in spurts. Sometimes I can find a lot, and other times they are sparse. Good luck. I love the design you made for them, and I would have chosen the same one they did!
Jennifer Sampou… Sky ombré line would be lovely!
I know this is a late reply, but J. Wrecker Frisch has some true greens in their collections. Look at Sewing Seeds III and Old School. Also Stof always does a set of greens in their Christmas lines, maybe something there would work. Can’t wait to see the end result!
