March 31st was the official end of the first quarter of 2025, and today I’m sharing how the first three months of my year shaped up. You are welcome to join me in the #2025QuiltingQ1CheckIn (the link up is open through April 15th)!

When I wrote my 2025 Planning post, I had just accepted a new job and I knew that my quilting time was going to shift this year as a result. I started my new job as a technical writer for an engineering company on February 10th, and I am really enjoying the work and getting to use my engineering knowledge again.

Goal 1: Host the Effervescence Quilt Along
So far, so good! The next quilt I plan to finish is my Effervescence quilt, which will help me complete the finishing instructions that will be needed a bit later in the year.
Goal 2: Host the Favorite Finishes Monthly Linkup
Again, so far, so good!
The April Favorite Finishes linkup will open on April 25th.
Goal 3: Complete my WIPs
I finished 1 of the 3 WIPs I started the year with:
- Effervescence (baste, quilt, bind) – up next
- Frost Filigree – Finished!
- Signal Trace (make a backing, baste, quilt, bind)
Goal 4: Participate in Project Quilting Season 16
Not only did I participate, I surprised myself by making a baby quilt for 5 of the 6 prompts. Oh, and technically I did not meet the deadline for the final prompt, but I had a great time and got it finished anyway!
- PQ16.1 Regeneration
- PQ16.2 Good Vibes
- PQ16.3 Stormy Climate
- PQ16.4 Sapphire Mug Rug
- PQ16.5 Curse This Evil Dumpster Fire
- PQ16.6 Button it Up
Goal 5: Enjoy Quilting Glimmers
I would classify all of the Project Quilting prompts as quilting glimmers, and in addition, I loved making Charity Blocks for Many Hands and Many Hearts.
Goal 6: Appreciate Daily Joys
Some days are better than others. Highlights of my quarter include getting to spend time with friends and QuiltCon and starting my new job.
Q1 Recap
Overall, I’d say that I probably set too low of a bar for my 2025 goals. Looking forward to Q2, I’d like to:
- Continue to remember to get in the photo with every quilt finish (thanks, Debbie!)
- Finish my remaining 2 WIPs
- Start working on a new bed quilt for my in-laws
Linking up with #2025QuiltingQ1CheckIn.

Congratulations on your new job! You have some good quilting goals.
congrats on your new job! i love your quilts- you’re so talented! happy spring :) heather
I always enjoy reading your recap posts. It seems like you’re doing well with balancing your new job with continuing to work on quilting projects.
It’s hard to gauge how things are going to work out with a new job. Looks like you’ve been able to manage the transition well. Good luck with the rest of your goals for 2025.
You did very well this quarter. I think it is good to underestimate a little when making a shift, there are 9 months to adjust your goals! Good luck with Q2!
Looks to me like you were very successful in your first quarter, despite the new routine. I think I need to take a hint from you and not include photos in my check-in next time – haha. Anyway, good going, and thanks for the reminder about maker photos! I need to do that too, no matter what the size of quilt.
Wow, you managed to get so much done even with a new job! Congratulations.
Congratulations on a solid start to the year, Yvonne! I’m glad the transition to the new job has gone so well and you’re able to still find time for quilting.
So glad to hear you are enjoying the new job!
Congratulations on your new position! It seems that you’re doing well with your goals, and having fun at the same time.
Yonne, you are so creative and busy!! Good to see that you love your new job!!!
happy easter time :-))
It’s always nice to get a good peek at someone else’s ToDo list, and I think differently than you: yours looks pretty ambitious, considering all the Life Changes that came your way. Some years we knock it out of the park, and other years, we know where we keep the bat and ball. It’s fun to be in the stands and watch you play.
