Button It Up
2025 Finished Quilts

Button It Up {Finished Quilt | PQ16.6}

Better late than never! When the final Project Quilting prompt was announced, Button it Up, I knew immediately how I wanted to interpret the prompt. The best way for me to finish off this season was to use up the scraps I had left over from making my Good Vibes {PQ16.2} quilt. The week of the final Project Quilting prompt, I was able to get the pieces prepped on Sunday and the quilt top pieced on Monday… and then life got busy. Since then, I have been able to carve out a little bit of time here and there in order to get this quilt finished.

The quilt measures 37″ wide by 52″ long, and I opted to stitch in the ditch and then used 1″ spacing to quilt a minimal grid for the quilt.

The quilt top is pieced using 30 Kona Cottons: Aloha, Aqua, Sea Glass, Robin Egg, Dusty Blue, Sea Mist, Ice Frappe, Pool, Azure, Bahama Blue, Jamaica, Waterfall, Aruba, Sage, Breakers, Capri, Turquoise, Lagoon, Peacock, Candy Green, Jade Green, Cyan, Oasis, Celestial, Mediterranean, Seascape, Ultra Marine, Glacier, Caribbean, and Teal Blue.

The back of the quilt is a FreeSpirit Solid in Caribbean.

I decided that the quilt matched my newly purchased Quilters Against Fascism button that I ordered from Teresa Fiehn Millies @queen.of.marigold, so I used a Tula Pink True Colors Mineral print in Amethyst for the binding.

The weather outside is not conducive to outdoor photography, so I opted for  photos of the quilt on my design wall and a quick selfie.

It might have taken me 2.5 weeks instead of a week, but I’m glad I was able to button up all of my Project Quilting projects for the year!

    Love that you so enjoyed the Project Quilting season again and were able to participate even with the new personal schedule. Perfect that the final project used some of your scraps!

  2. Wonderful finish – all my favorite colors! I need to grab myself one of those buttons.

  3. Yvonne, it is rare that I look at your work and say – I want to make that. Because our styles are different. But I always aspire to be as neat and precise as you are in your execution. Your workmanship is the best! Thank you for saying what many others are too scared to utter. Thank you for linking with TGIFF.

    You made the most of those leftovers. What a cool way to let the colors carry the quilt. So glad you were able to get it finished while navigating a new schedule.

  5. That is a great use of project leftovers to make another beautiful quilt! I like the statement your pins make – I need some of those. And that you matched the binding to the pin color – perfect!

    One can never have too many blue quilts, and never too many shades of blue in a quilt! Looks like you hit both birds with one stone, and I applaud you! Congratulations on another finish, amazing in your busy life. And of course, love the buttons.

  8. Your turquoise/blue ombré layout is an awesome background for those buttons that speak a powerful message.
