Low Volume Nine Patch Charity Blocks

Last Sunday, Cynthia (Many Hands and Many Hearts) shared her newest block request: low volume 9-patch blocks. I always try to make and send at least a few blocks, but I wasn’t sure if I’d have enough variety to have each patch in the 9-patch blocks come from a different fabric, so I reached out to Cynthia to see if I could send in fabric or how else I could contribute.

Thankfully, I was able to make six cream low volume 9-patch blocks with my bits and scraps. Yay!

Seam Securing Stitch

I really think it’s important to add a seam securing stitch across all my seams that go to the edge of a block when I will be folding them up and shipping them off. I try to stay 1/8″ or closer to the edge with this stitch.

9-Patch and 4-Patch Blocks

Because I reached out to Cynthia worried I wouldn’t be able to make many 9-patch blocks for her this quarter, she place a special order with me for some colorful 4-patch blocks, too. My design wall was a bright and happy spot while I worked on these blocks for her. Now the blocks are all packaged up and ready to be dropped off at the post office.

Cynthia and her organization do good work in the world. Instead of doom scrolling this weekend, focusing my time and energy working on blocks that I know she will put to good use felt like the best way I could spend my time. I hope you’ll consider making and sending in some 9-patch blocks for her current drive.

Very fun blocks. You have the most fun colored scraps. I need to pull out my scrap bin and see what I can pull together to send her way.

Seam securing… this is the wording I dont know, bit I do it a lot. Especially at the SAHRR project. It helps so much if you use a piece of a quilt that grows. Ou move from one place to another, fold, press, lay here and there. This is a good trick to show. Hope a lot will participate from this good tip!
Hope you enjoy your new routine! Lovely week!!! Good vibes
