In the lull week between Project Quilting prompts, I decided to pull out one of my WIPs and make some progress. I drug my feet getting started on Monday, but I did clean my machine, change the needle, put on my walking foot, and get it threaded and ready for Tuesday. I decided to start with Frost Filigree, because it was basted and I had already done a lot of the background quilting.

Frost Filigree – Corner Quilting
I was pretty much dreading finishing off the background quilting, which is why it has languished for a while. I needed to finish the 4 corners of the background. And the strange thing was that on Tuesday, I got it all done. Huh. That wasn’t so bad.

Frost Filigree – Half of Crosshatch Quilting Complete
I immediately started thinking, well, maybe I can get the quilt finished this week. Hahaha, well, nope. It took me Wednesday and Thursday to get half of the crosshatch quilting finished in the colored areas of the quilt. But because I get to change out thread colors fairly frequently, I’m feeling like I’m making good progress.

Frost Filigree – Half of Crosshatch Quilting Complete (Backing View)
The crosshatch quilting is slow going because there are a LOT of threads to bury. I plan to keep working on it today, and maybe a bit more on Saturday before setting it aside for the next Project Quilting prompt. But with all the progress I’ve made this week, I’m hopeful for a finish sooner rather than later!

First Customers – Male and Female House Finch
My daily joy yesterday was getting to watch the local birds finally find the bird feeder my husband gifted me at Christmas. I was sitting less than 2 feet away from the window when this male and female house finch started feeding. I sat as still as I could for about 5 minutes, and when I tried to slowly reach over for my camera, I spooked them. I got up and backed into the room and they quickly came back over to the feeder. And to my delight, after eating their fill, they came back later in the day and must have told other birds about it because there were also white-crowned sparrows late in the afternoon.
All in all, it’s been a good week. I hope you have had a few bright spots in your week, too.

Loving the crosshatch. Hope the thread burying isn’t too tedious!
Funny how we put something off, then when we finally do it, realize it wasn’t as bad as we had thought it would be. Your quilting is beautiful, as usual! What a fun bird feeder, too. It will be fun to see what birds come to visit with each season!
That’s a lot of passes with the walking food,, but it’s looking really good. The bird feeder is really cool. Nice photo!
Having that kind of feeder on the window is wonderful. We got one for my MIL when she moved to assisted living and her apt was on the second floor. She loved watching the birds.
I love your window feeder Yvonne!! We have several feeders near our kitchen window and love watching the birds. Good luck with the quilting this week.
Love the action at your new birdfeeder. ;-) And yay for quilting progress. That has to feel good as you head into another PQ challenge!
Now you have BirdTV! I find bird feeders endlessly fascinating and people I know who have them, are equally so. How lovely to have that on your sewing room window. I was also interested in your progress on quilting, and liked seeing the back with the color changes. (Of course you are the bravest quilter on the planet to use white as your backing. No oopses possible!) It’s beautiful, Yvonne, and I can’t wait to see the end, and to see your quilt again at Road!!
I hate changing thread and burying threads, but I know sometimes it’s a necessary evil. LOL Good luck with the remaining quilting. It looks great so far.
I love the quilting on Frost Filigree! It is fun to see the orange thread on the white background. I love our birdfeeder – so much fun to see who comes to visit through the seasons.
