My last goal for 2024 was to “[g]ive myself grace and lean into patience.” Well, 2024 was a year that definitely required a LOT more of that than I thought was fun!! Overall, I am amazed to be able to look back on my 2024 goal setting post and realize how much of it I was still able to accomplish. For 2025, I know that things are going to continue to evolve out of the messy life stuff that 2024 wrought, so it’s only appropriate that I rethink how I want to plan for 2025.
This year, all of my quilting time, whether for business or pleasure, will need to be scaled back as I will be going back into the workforce as a Technical Writer. I will still continue to sell digital quilt patterns in my shop and as time permits, I will continue to write and release new patterns.
Goal 1: Host the Effervescence Quilt Along
Given the eccentricities of life, I am working hard to have all of the content scheduled in advance to make sure everyone has access to the content on the scheduled dates as promised.

Goal 2: Host the Favorite Finishes Monthly Linkup
This will be my second year hosting the monthly linkup. I’ve made a new graphic for 2025 and check the sidebar for the linkup dates. All of the linkups are scheduled and ready for us throughout the year.

2025 Planning – WIPs
Goal 3: Complete my WIPs
I currently have 3 WIPs, and I’d like to get them all finished this year.
- Effervescence (baste, quilt, bind)
- Frost Filigree (finish quilting, bind)
- Signal Trace (make a backing, baste, quilt, bind)

Goal 4: Participate in Project Quilting Season 16
I’m not going to let my third goal keep me from doing things that really get me excited. After catching the Project Quilting bug, I am very much looking forward to the first prompt that comes out on January 5th!
Goal 5: Enjoy Quilting Glimmers
This is similar to my fourth goal, but this one is a catch all for all the other quilting ideas that might capture my attention. Given the new boundaries that I will need to establish in my life’s routine this year with a new job, I want to leave space to be able to chase those ideas, even if that means I can’t fully complete Goal #3 this year.
Goal 6: Appreciate Daily Joys
I want to savor flavors, sights, sounds, scents, tactile experiences, and mindfully appreciate as many daily joys as possible.

Great 2025 goals – I very likely will add your goal 6 to my list too. Love that one. Happy new year!
You have some good goals for 2025. I hope your return to the workforce goes well, too. I need to think about my year and what I’d like to accomplish. Thanks for the inspiration!
I love your goal of catching quilting glimmers. We need them to be able to keep completing the more mundane quilting tasks. Sometimes I feel such a hit of dopamine when a new idea unexpectedly pops in my head or something clicks when I read a blog or Instagram post. It’s the best feeling!
Wishing you success in both your new job and in accomplishing your goals for the year ahead.
Wishing you a smoother 2025 and that reentry goes well. I am always surprised at how much people get done. I expect you will be one of those people! I love the Quilting Glimmers goal….whatever bit of fun floats your boat is a lovely thing to intentionally do more of.
Good luck going back into the workforce and with all your goals. I can’t believe Project Quilting starts this weekend. Yikes……
That’s a great list of goals, Yvonne. I love your enthusiasm for Project Quilting, and the idea of following the quilting glimmers is beautiful. Happy 2025!
Wishing you all the luck re-entering the workforce!
Great goals – I do have to say tho – only 3 wips? you make me want to be like you!!! Congrats on the new job.
your goals sound great, especially the last one, appreciating daily joys, i think that as you meet that goal more and more, it will leave you more time and energy to tackle the other goals, [or to be able to let go as the case may be1!], have a great time trying!
Awesome goals, as always. Your quilts are so pretty. Looking forward to seeing all that you’ll accomplish in 2025.
Terrific goals for this new and different year!
I think we phrased the goals differently but they are eerily similar. And no, I did not read your post before writing mine ;) I wish you all the best for 2025 and your new job and especially for your health. xo
Some years life really is no fun. Good luck with your goals for 2025 and in your new job. Looking forward to seeing what you create this year.
All quantifiable and organized goals — the best feeling ever. I wish all the luck in your new tech writing job. Whoever lands you is fortunate indeed. You do lay out things that are easy to read and to understand, having sewn one of your patterns. I was reading another quilter’s/pattern writers’s post yesterday and they were talking (complaining) about how they would get many emails that were angry about the pattern. This q/pw asserted that the complainer just needed to read more carefully. But as a teacher, and a pattern-writer, I know how what is clear to us can be confusing to others. And the challenge perhaps is to take the criticism and re-write the pattern. BTW, your patterns are very clearly written, which I suppose, comes from your tech writing job. (Just a side story to liven up your day.)
Hi Yvonne, good luck with your goals and your new job. It’s not easy to balance everything so be gentle with yourself and thanks for continuing your parties. :-)
