Effervescence Fabric - Banyon Batiks

Effervescence Fabric – Banyon Batiks

Effervescence requires 15 fabrics, and the sample quilt was pieced using luscious Banyan Batiks Hexies provided by Northcott Fabrics. A few of the colors I used will not be available and in stores until January 2025, so for the time being, I cannot link to a shop that carries all of these fabrics for you. For reference, I used (from left to right above):

  • Fabric A – Banyan Batiks Hexies in Currant (81700-84)
  • Fabric B – Banyan Batiks Hexies in Pink Punch (81700-28)
  • Fabric C – Banyan Batiks Hexies in Raspberry (81700-23)
  • Fabric D – Banyan Batiks Hexies in Grapefruit (81700-32)
  • Fabric E – Banyan Batiks Hexies in Pumpkin (81700-58)
  • Fabric F – Banyan Batiks Shadows in Walnut Brown (81300-39)
  • Fabric G – Banyan Batiks Hexies in Persimmon (81700-54)
  • Fabric H – Banyan Batiks Hexies in Sunglow (81700-53)
  • Fabric I – Banyan Batiks Hexies in Guacamole (81700-74)
  • Fabric J – Banyan Batiks Hexies in Citrus Green (81700-72)
  • Fabric K – Banyan Batiks Hexies in Spring Green (81700-73)

  • Fabric M – Banyan Batiks Hexies in Denim (81700-48)

When selecting your fabrics, keep in mind that the Effervescence quilt design lends itself best to smaller scale prints; large scale prints (like the large feature prints in a Tula Pink or Anna Maria Horner collection) are not recommended.

To allow plenty of time for your fabric considerations, the next instructions will be released on January 6th, 2025. If you haven’t joined yet, you can do so at any time by purchasing the Effervescence Quilt Along. If you have joined, look for the Fabric Requirements email and click on the blue button inside the email to download the file.

Colorway Mockups

Effervescence in Paintbrush Studios

Effervescence in Paintbrush Studios

Although the blues are not as true blue in the Paintbrush Studios mockup, above, it’s a pretty close match to the Banyan Batiks colorway I used for the sample quilt. You can purchase all the Paintbrush Studios solids from String & Story; just note that the order size is a half-yard, so if you need between 1/4 and 1/2 yard, order a quantity of 1 and if you need between 5/8 yard and 1 yard, you need a quantity of 2.

When I made the original improv version, I pulled solids and cross weaves from my scrap bin. I’ve done my best to color match to Kona cottons (links below to the Fat Quarter Shop):

I had fun making colorwash mockups using Kona Cotton in several colors. You can purchase all of the Kona cotton colors from Stash Fabrics.

This is most likely the colorway I’ll be making during the quilt along.

I really love the warmth and grounding that this colorway generates.

Love seeing all the mock-ups and trying to decide what I want to do with mine!

    Hi Yvonne
    Sorry to be a pain.
I signed up for the quilt along on Saturday but did not get the fabric requirements email, nor any response to my email querying it (I did check my junk email and non-focused folders).
I suspect our firewall is blocking emails from you – is there another way I can engage with you?
Any ideas / suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    1. Marina, I just replied to your comment via email. If you do not get that reply, I can try another email address. In the meantime, could you add newsletter@quiltingjetgirl.com and yvonne@quiltingjetgirl.com to your contact list?

Thank you so much for your response!
I am definitely not getting emails from you, despite adding you as a contact.
Pretty sure it is our systems blocking it (and not informing anyone).
I will send you an email from my gmail account (also used for this message); can you please update my subscription to use that email instead? Thanks!

        1. I’m so glad the gmail address is working. Look for an email from newsletter (at) quiltingjetgirl (dot) com in about an hour!

Wow–you have done a lot of work getting all those mock-ups in different color lines (Painter’s Palette from Paintbrush Studios is my go-to line). It’s also interesting to see how the different tonal families bring a different character to your design. Bravo, Yvonne! This should be an interesting QAL, and can’t wait to see how it unfolds.

I really appreciate the time and thought you take to comment, and I look forward to conversing with you. :)
