Announcing the Effervescence Quilt Along {Signups Open!}

When I created an improv quilt for Project Quilting’s 14.5 prompt (Not a Square) in March 2023, I immediately started to get questions about a pattern for the design. Because I pieced the quilt improvisationally, I responded honestly with, “I’m not sure how I could write a pattern for this, but thank you for your interest and enthusiasm for my quilt!”

The idea sat nagging at the back of my mind, though, and in early 2024, I sat down to see if I could figure something out. Today I’m excited to share the results of my hard work with you. Introducing Effervescence, the 2024-2025 Quilting Jetgirl quilt along pattern!

*Note: I create my yearly Quilting Jetgirl quilt alongs as the free yearly reward for my Quilting Jetgirl Patrons. So to join, you can either sign up for the quilt along in my pattern shop or become a Quilting Jetgirl Patron, which gets you more behind the scenes information and access to community platform photo sharing and other benefits.

While Effervescence was inspired by an improvisationally pieced quilt top, the Effervescence quilt along pattern was designed to create a 56″ x 72″ lap quilt that looks improvisationally pieced but uses traditional piecing methods!

By participating in the Effervescence quilt along, you are agreeing to be added to my special quilt along only email list. The Effervescence quilt pattern will be released in sections as the quilt along progresses, so when you purchase the pattern, you will NOT receive the whole pattern right way and you will be giving me permission to add you to my quilt along email list. The pattern will be released mystery quilt style in sections via email on the dates listed in the schedule.

The pattern includes full color illustrations for 42 unique block designs. The instructions for each block all fit on a single page and include the fabric and cut pieces that you need for each block. In addition, I will be sharing some organization tips when the cutting instructions are released to help us all stay organized throughout the quilt along.

The quilt along schedule is very relaxed and is meant to acknowledge that things often pop up unexpectedly. The schedule allows plenty of time to account for the holidays and for any catch up that may need to happen along the way, settling into an every 2 week rhythm in 2025.

Special thanks to my husband, who patiently waited for the wind to abate in the Sonoran Desert for the Effervescence quilt photoshoot (#HusbandsHoldingQuilts). We were camping near Saguaro National Park on our way to a family wedding in October, and I was really hopeful that we could get some photographs of the sample Effervescence quilt top by a saguaro cactus. We got a later start driving that day than we had hoped, but I’m so glad we waited just a bit longer and were able to get these photographs!

    It is beautiful and very interesting.

    I just want to confirm that the sign-up price is the only fee for the QAL. The exchange rate from Canadian to US funds is a little bit of an ouch right now.

    1. Great question. The only price to me for the quilt along is paying for the pattern (which signs you up). Beyond that, supplies will be needed, but I can’t speak to that pricing as it depends on how much you can use your stash for fabric, batting, and thread.

        do you have a kit for effervescence? Is there a store that can make the kit for us

        1. What I will be offering this year are several mockups with links to where you can find all the fabric for that colorway online. You can see how I have done that in the past for other quilt alongs at the links below. Note a few shops made kits last year (Star Pulse quilt along), but they did not sell so no shops are not working on kits for me again this year, but I’ll still be offering the mockup options.
