Signal Trace {Pieced Quilt Top}

I have savored every moment of making this version of Signal Trace. Normally cutting fabric is my least favorite part of the quilt making process, but taking the time to prep the fabric in August helped keep my sane. And every next step just felt so, so good.

Even trimming HSTs to size is fun when you end up with such a colorful and cute friendly fabric monster!

My points aren’t matched up as well as I might strive for in some of my other quilts, but this quilt top is perfectly pieced and ready for some quilting. I’m thinking an all over free motion quilting motif would be fun – maybe a boxy meander? I’m open to suggestions!

Here’s one last parting detail view of the quilt top that really shows off the lovely teal prints from my stash and the prints from the Monochrome Fat Quarter Bundle of 10 Tim Holtz prints for FreeSpirit Fabrics from Stash Fabrics.

    So very pretty! I use the hook swirl design for a great looking all over free motion design a lot. It’s from Angela Walters but I have a tutorial for it on my blog.

  4. This is such a fun version – I hadn’t thought to use low volumes along with a pop of color! I’m so glad you are finding the process relaxing and therapeutic.

    It’s interesting to compare this light background version with the dark. Both are dramatic, but in very different ways. So glad you’ve been able to get back to some stitching. Hopefully you’ll have more time on the stitching front this year.
