2024 Summer Social Media Break

After attempting several short vacations and breaks this summer and having them need to be postponed (for very good reasons), I have decided to regroup and have a working staycation instead. For the month of August, the only new blog post I plan to share will be the August Favorite Finish linkup (which will open on August 26th), and I will not be posting to any of my social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook page, Facebook group, etc.). I will also take a break from reading blog posts and doom scrolling on social media. I will still be working behind the scenes; hopefully I can make some progress on starting to quilt Frost Filigree, start testing my next QAL pattern, and more.

I’ll be back in September. Take care, and if you really need me during this break, you can always send me an email at yvonne (at) quiltingjetgirl (dot) com.

Have the best time, Yvonne! Social media breaks are so good for the soul!

  3. Good for you. I’ve cut back on social media permanently, checking my facebook group once a week, and getting off twitter and instagram altogether. Nothing but time wasters. I’ve cut my blog list in half as well, but still enjoy yours. Have a restful and creative time off, see you when you get back.

  4. Enjoy your staycation! Sounds like a great decision.

I was never a Facebook person, stopped using twitter when Elon (fill in whatever), and now find Instagram mostly uninteresting. Even when a few minutes of an amusement break sound good, the feed is dull. Far too many ads but also shallow content. A handful of people use the platform in meaningful ways; I have followed a few PCT hikers and learned what the trail is really like. But those folks put in a ton of time to create their feed.

I really appreciate the time and thought you take to comment, and I look forward to conversing with you. :)
