As part of the Star Pulse quilt along, there will be bonus HSTs created during the piecing process. At the end of the quilt along, I will offer a suggested pattern and way to put those bonus HSTs to immediate use in a quilt top. So today, I want to share the Star Pulse throw size bonus quilt that I made to test out the design.

Star Pulse Throw Size Bonus Quilt
The Star Pulse throw size bonus quilt finishes at 32″ x 40″, and requires a small amount of additional yardage to piece. The additional yardage will be included in the fabric requirements, which will be released at the start of the quilt along on December 1st. The Star Pulse lap size bonus quilt is almost identical (it is basically just missing the last two rows) and finishes at 32″ x 32″.

Star Pulse Throw Size Bonus Quilt
To quilt the bonus quilt, I simply quilted diagonal lines that are spaced a little under 3″ apart (every other quilted line is in a seam ditch).

Star Pulse Bonus Quilt – Quilt Backing
And by piecing the backing, I was able to use up pretty much all of the Toscana fabric I received from Northcott. It feels really great to put all the fabric yardage to use into two quilts!
I really can’t wait to get started making my next version of Star Pulse, and I hope you will consider joining me in the quilt along. I will be sharing all the details about how to participate on Wednesday, November 15th.

The color graduation across the quilt is really cool. It doesn’t look like a bonus quilt.
Well done! I am impressed you could put together a second quilt with the leftover bits from the first.
What a great use of the bonus HST and then all the last strips on the back, too!! Love the color gradation, as we quilters do!!!
Wow — this is just your “leftovers” project?! It looks fantastic! Excellent use of the ombre gradient fabric.
I love this “leftovers” quilt and the diagonal quilting is just perfect. So great that you used up nearly all of the fabric…a big accomplishment.
Such a cool design to use up leftovers. Love the pieced backing too! Toscana is a gorgeous line of fabrics to work with (and I have!) I have to admit right her that one of my main thoughts while reading this post is how in the world did your husband fit behind that little quilt?! LOLOL
Very pretty color gradation and a great use of the extra HSTs!
I believe that some of my best projects have come from leftovers. Your Star Pulse Bonus Quilt proves it! Graduated Gorgeousness 🙂
This is a great leftovers quilt! Love how the color moves thru the quilt
Such a great way to use those leftovers. The colour graduation is eye catching, and your simple quilting is perfect for this.
