I have been eager to make Cloudy Night Sky since I created the design and quilting plan about a year and a half ago. Now that the quilt is finally made, I am very happy to also release the Cloudy Night Sky digital pattern so that you can create you own version!
Fabrics & Materials
Cloudy Night Sky is a two color quilt, and I used Kona Cotton solids in Nightfall and Snow. I paired the solids with matching 50wt Aurifil thread in 2785 (Very Dark Navy) and 2311 (Muslin).
I have a blog post about my piecing thread selection. Note that if I were making the quilt for my own personal enjoyment (instead of as a show quilt), I would have used a gray thread like Dove (or perhaps a shade darker) for the piecing.
Quilting
Because the quilting plan for Cloudy Night Sky was so integral to my design, I included details (and templates) on how I marked and quilted the cover quilt. I know that “quilt as desired” sounds super scary, so if you aren’t interested in recreating what I did for the quilting, I imagine making the white look like puffy clouds with some free motion quilting of echoing bumps and the dark night sky having a combination of free motion quilted stars, loops, and lines would look great. The pattern includes a coloring page for you to doodle out ideas, and I also offer the coloring pages as digital downloads for you to use in your favorite apps as well.

Congrats on the new pattern. I like the idea of quilting stars in the dark navy side, it would give the quilt a completely different look.
Congrats on your new release! I love that you included quilting helps for this one.
Congratulations on a gorgeous quilt and wonderful pattern! I am sure quilters will love having the quilting suggestions and templates.
