Hello and Happy Friday! It’s hard to believe but today is the last day of June and we are halfway through the year (don’t forget about the #2022QuiltingQ2CheckIn). I’m popping in quickly today to let you know that Leanne of Devoted Quilter has an interview up on her blog today about the first quilt I ever made.
I found the cover of the pattern I followed (above) and I took some new photos of my quilt that showcase just how closely the fabrics I selected match the sample quilt on the front cover! 🙂
If you have missed any of Leanne’s My First Quilt series, they are all worth a read!
- Leanne’s own first quilt
- Laura (Slice of Pi)’s first quilt
- Michelle (From Bold to Beauty)’s first quilt
- Sandra (mmm Quilts)’s first quilt
- Yvonne (Quilting Jetgirl)’s first quilt <– that’s me (and I’ll update this link on Friday morning)!
Speaking of new photos, I took the opportunity to snap a new headshot, which you might have noticed updated on the sidebar of my website. I’m honored that Leanne asked me to participate in the series, and I hope you enjoy reading all about my first quilt!
I did notice your new photo with the fabric background. Your first quilt story is delightful. Thanks for showing the back so we could see your Gran’s beautiful stitching. I still have my first quilt, it’s 50 yrs old this year & looks it.
A wonderful read into the beginning of your quilting life.
That was fun to read how you got your start in quilting. Do you think you would have started if your grandma hadn’t offered to quilt one for you?
What a great post – I read it but was unable to comment on Leanne’s site (who knows why??)
Anyway so amazing how one’s tastes change as time goes by. For you to choose that larger scale floral is such a surprise. How fortunate you are that your Grandma offered to quilt this for you. It sure kicked off a successful business for you. She is would be so impressed by the detailed quilting you do now.
Fun. I’ll go have a read!
Oh, fun. I remember that book and will happy to see your quilt on LeeAnnes blog. Nice new photo, too!
I loved reading about your first quilt, excellent story!
Interesting how many of us made our first and/or early quilts using Eleanor’s books. Loved her strip-piecing techniques!
