I’ve been working as a technical editor for the quilting industry for 7 years. Sarah Ruiz is another technical editor that I have met during that time. As Sarah and I have gotten to know one another better, we have each referred quilters to the other when we are too busy or full to take on a new client. Recently, both Sarah and I have been answering more questions about technical editing: everything from what technical editing means to how we began working in this area, so we are teaming up on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 7pm Eastern | 6pm Central | 5pm Mountain | 4pm Pacific to host a panel discussion event all about quilt pattern technical editing.
The discussion will specifically be structured around quilt pattern technical editing, and we will be sharing the paths we took to become technical editors, what skills a strong technical editor would likely possess, some business insights, and pitfalls to consider. We will also allow plenty of time at the end for live Q&A.
The discussion and Q&A will be held LIVE via Zoom. If you are unable to make the live discussion, we will also be recording the event and providing the playback link to everyone who registers so that it can be watched (or re-watched) at your convenience. We are also finalizing additional networking and learning elements for everyone who participates / signs up, and we will explain all of those extras during the discussion. You can purchase your registration for the event in my shop. If you are interested in becoming a quilt pattern technical editor, we hope you find this event beneficial!
What a great opportunity for folks to hear and learn more about technical editing.
This is going to be such a wonderful resource for new technical editors!!
How wonderful that you are sharing your knowledge on this. You are a great editor and it is good for folks considering this to understand more about what it takes to do it.
I’ve been curious, but haven’t been courageous enough to ask. So thank you for offering the discussion session.
