My hands are happy to say that I finished hand binding the queen size Night Garden quilt and it is complete!

Night Garden
A 90″ wide by 100″ tall quilt was much, much larger than my husband could reasonably hold up. Some friends stopped by at the end of last week, and I was musing about what I could do to hold up the quilt. We were out in the hangar, and our friend spied my husband’s portable gantry, “Just hang it off of that.” Well, a quick measure showed that it should fit. We have some very strong rare earth magnets that we wrapped in painter’s tape and they were more than strong enough to hold the quilt up. I was impressed and what a great solution! I even like the industrial look of the gantry.

Night Garden – Navy Widebacking
The back of the quilt is a Kona Cotton widebacking in Navy. With the Dissent quilting motif that I selected and Melissa from Sew Shabby Quilting used, it makes a really beautiful two sided quilt.

Night Garden – Quilting Detail
I find the quilting pattern to be pretty mesmerizing and I love the way the pattern interlocks with itself.

Night Garden – Center Piecing and Quilting Detail
Melissa used a gray thread for the quilting, which honestly blends in really well with the two color quilt top. I think that the Dissent motif echoes a lot of the circular and pointy pieced elements of the quilt top in a fun way. I love how the quilt came together and I can’t wait for my sister- and brother-in-law to receive it and start using it on their bed!
Don’t forget that Melissa is offering 15% off to anyone who mentions me (Yvonne Fuchs or Quilting Jetgirl) when you contact her about her longarming services. Her 15% off offer is valid through the end of April 2023.

Good idea to use what you have as a quilt hanger, it looks like it was made just for holding up quilts. Love the quilting, beautiful quilt!
I like it, The Quilt Hangar. What a spectacular quilting motif you picked.
That will be a very dynamic quilt on the bed with those crisp colors and design. The quilting really works well, too. Really nice finish!
One big absolutely gorgeous quilt, congrats on the finish!
This looks beautiful and the quilting works wonderfully. What a great way to take a quilt photo too!
Absolutely stunning! Congratulations on such a beauty. What a good idea to hang it off a gantry … which I had no idea what it even was until now!
That is one gorgeous quilt! The quilting pattern is terrific and I love your hanging solution. The industrial look totally works and makes it a perfect for this photo. 90 x 100 is a lot of binding, that is for sure.
oh this turned out beautifully, Yvonne! The quilting just added so much to an already wonderful design – what a stunner. And yay for the clever photoshoot!! The relief and satisfaction must be huge to have this one done and ready to be used.
A beautiful finished quilt that makes a wonderful gift. I had forgotten it was quilted on a longarm and when I looked at the back I was amazed. Then I read further. I am still amazed. Your piecing work always amazes me and I smile at the blue fabric…one of your favorites, I think.
When I saw the first photo I thought, holy moly, that quilter changed threads over this entire quilt?! So reading at the end that it was a grey was a real surprise! I used a very pale yellow sometimes, as per Angela Walters’ recommendation, with really good results over markedly different colours/shades. It is gorgeous. I love the pop of binding against the navy on the back, and that motif if fabulous: it’s a heart with the ‘innie’ pushed out! Utterly gorgeous quilt Yvonne.
I love your hanging solution!!
That is one amazing quilt!
Beautiful quilt! The quilting is stunning and the perfect choice to echo the pattern! What a great solution to photographing such a large quilt!
So pretty love the 2 color quilt…it just is so standout!
Just lovely! I think the quilting motif spot on. There’s something really pleasing about all those curves and circles and it really matches your piecing well.
Absolutely gorgeous quilt!
What a stunning quilt, Yvonne! And love your new “quilt stand”!!!
I’m so glad to be back here a second time looking at this beauty. The front just sparkles like the night sky. Thanks for linking up to TGIFF.
So nice…love the quilt and the exquisite quilting
