Each year since 2015, Cheryl from Meadow Mist Designs has encouraged us to look back on our year and share some of our best posts. Her Best of 2022 link party is open, and there are no rules on how you define and share your best posts.
Favorite Tutorial – Quilt Basting Tips and Tricks
I shared a LOT of new tips and tutorials this year, and my post with my Quilt Basting Tips and Tricks seems to be the one with the most current views and visits. Other highlights (in order of most views) include:
- Two Quick Sewing Room Cleaning Tips
- Updated Four-at-a-Time Flying Geese Tutorial and Sizing Tables
- DIY Drop Sewing Table Tutorial
- Recolor App for Digital Quilt Mockups
- Make a Design Wall You Can Use Your Hera Marker Against
Favorite Pattern Release – Diatom
Diatom was my best pattern release for 2022, as evidenced by how many of you have purchased the Diatom quilt along and will be sewing along with me in 2023. Thank you and I cannot wait to see what you make!
Favorite Quilt Finish – Meringue
Meringue is one of those quilts that brought me joy at every step of the creative process. I was thrilled to work with the warm colors in the palette inspired by the baked points of a meringue pie, and the quilting brought the piece together in a way that still excites me!
Favorite Personal Project – Iggy Thread Painting
It’s really hard to pick a favorite finish from a year, so I’m sneaking in a second favorite finish under the category of favorite personal project. I made a thread painting of Iggy, the dominant male gold dust day gecko that lives on the front porch of our former cottage in Hawaii to remember him by, and I love getting to hang out with him in my studio every day.
Favorite New Gadget – The Quilt Keeper
I was introduced to The Quilt Keeper this year, and I love how easy it is to install and use. I’m still enjoying having my Pulsar quilt hung on the door to my studio.

Iggy is definitely a favorite, and that photo is perfect. You’ve done well this year!
Happy New Year! Your Diatom and Meringue quilts are beautiful and I love your thread-painting. Tried it for the first time myself this year.
Yvonne, your work is exceptional. I have used many of your tips and tutorials! However, Meringue is one of my favorites quilts along with its companion Garden Peony! Iggy is also pretty amazing with its beautiful thread painting!
I love my quilt keepers, too. Best Christmas gift I gave myself this year.
Iggy is adorable! I love the way you arranged the thread colors to show what went into his creation. Have a wonderful 2023!
I really do love Iggy, he’s a masterpiece. Your quilting is so spectacular – the Meringue is taken to another level with the texture. I know you’ll have a ball with the Diatom QAL and I can’t wait to see all the versions created!
As I am scrolling through your post I see Meringue and think it is my favorite. I love the quilting, it just shows the quilt so well! Then there is Iggy, have to change my mind that is my favorite all time. Your thread color choices and painting are so amazing. They bring him to life! Thanks for sharing so many beautiful projects from 2022. Looking forward to seeing what 2023 brings.
I love both Iggy and Meringue so much and I can’t wait to see all the different versions of the wonderful Diatom sew-along quilts next year.
All your work is beautiful, Yvonne, but I am a little partial to Iggy also! 🙂
You have such beautiful quilt designs! I really love the blue stars quilt. Looking forward to your new quilts and posts in the new year!
Such wonderful tutorials and quilt finishes! I look forward to quilting along with you on Diatom. Thanks for linking up!
Stunning line up of beautiful work there.
Wonderful projects! Iggy is a favorite for sure.
Enjoyed seeing your favorites! Yay for such beautiful projects, and love all your excellent tutorials.
I love seeing your projects and how you have displayed quilts in your home. Your thread painting of Iggy is probably my favorite.
Too much fun looking back on your quilting highlights this year, Yvonne! You got me with the blue stars!!!
Somehow I missed the creation of Iggy. What a fun, bold and bright finish. I’m looking forward to starting Diatom.
I love every one of these finishes that you highlighted. You share so much of your process on each one, and I love that about your posts. Your tips and tutorials are so thorough and inspiring, too! I am grateful for them and that you always link to tips and tutorials!
Iggy stole my heart. This was so much fun, Yvonne. Wishing you a very happy 2023!
