Sesen {Fabric Cut}

After finishing the mini quilt sample for my QuiltCon Playful Partial Seams workshops, I knew it was time to dive in and start working on the Sesen workshop sample. I’ve had the fabric on hand for a long time, but before diving in and cutting all the fabric, I knew I needed to go back through the pattern carefully. After combing my way through the instructions and making a few changes and corrections, I was finally ready to get started this week.

Somehow this pile of fabric doesn’t seem nearly as impressive in a photo, but I assure you that it represents several hours of careful attention and focus. I listened to several Pantsuit Politics podcast episodes while I worked. The background for the quilt is Kona Natural, and I really like the small variations in the fabric.

To make sure I didn’t get anything muddled up while I was cutting, I created these reference swatches that will also come in handy for when I’m making the quilt top. Fabric A is Kona Papaya, Fabric B is Kona Kumquat, and Fabric C is Kona Coral.

And just as a reminder: this is where all that fabric is headed. Time to start sewing! What are you working on this weekend?

  1. I am not an orange fan but WOW this quilt is going to be fabulous! I would never have thought Coral would be that deep an orange.

  2. Love your fabric choices for this version – not colors I usually use, so it is fun to see a quilt come together with them.

  4. Love your color choices for this project. It’s going to be another spectacular quilt. Good luck with your Quilt Con submissions. Fingers crossed that they all get accepted.
