Birthday Pattern Flash Sale!

Today I am grateful to turn 42. I might not have the answer to life, the universe, and everything, but I’m happy to be here and ready to learn more. To celebrate, all the patterns in my shop are on sale today. No coupon code needed.

Fresh Quilting

Since my mid-30s, birthdays have become even more special to me for a host of personal reasons, and this photo from the set of Fresh Quilting in June 2017 is one of them. The day after this photograph was taken, I took my husband in for a CT scan. Behind the smile on my face here is an absolutely terrified woman who could barely function for lack of sleep and concern about her husband’s health. I’m happy to report that he’s better, but 100% for him now is not what it used to be.

You matter. Your health matters. And it’s okay to not be okay. And sometimes we have to follow through on our commitments when we are not at our best. Today and every day ahead, I commit to try to remember to choose kindness and grace. I’m going to try to remember to be gentle with myself, too. It would make my birthday extra special if you felt like joining in this commitment with me.

Whether you’ve been following along with my Aurifil Instagram takeover or just reading along with my blog posts this weekend, thanks for helping me have a wonderful birthday weekend celebration. Quilters are the best community of people I’ve had the pleasure of spending time with!

Don’t forget: the Quilting Jetgirl shop flash sale (all patterns are marked down 25%) is good only for today, Sunday, September 5, 2021. Let me know in the comments if and how you’ll be working on the daily challenge to choose kindness and grace or if you are like me and find extending kindness and grace to yourself is harder than extending it to others. Whatever the week has in store for us, I hope you are able to get some time with fabric and thread.

    Hello Yvonne
Thank you for sharing your day! Hope’s it’s a very happy one, and a great year ahead. ❣️

  4. Happy Birthday, Yvonne – I wish you a day filled with your favorite things (were you able to get your shaved ice?)! I’ll join you in the challenge. I am very hard on myself, especially when I feel I didn’t do something right. So I’m going to try to accept that sometimes things don’t go as planned, and show myself some grace, rather than reassess continually and continually criticize myself.

  5. Wishing you a very happy birthday and a beautiful year ahead of you. I, too, will join in the challenge. We all need a little more kindness and grace and I always hope that by being the best I can be, it will spread to others. Thank you for all you do for the quilting community – we are fortunate.

Happy Birthday! Over the past year and a half (you know, pandemic time) I’ve worked especially hard at being kind and letting negativity pass through me. I feel committed to calming the strong, often angry, emotions into understanding and generosity. I’m committed and I join you in your commitment. Thank you for sharing your talent and grace with us!

A very happy birthday to you Yvonne. I remember watching your episode on Fresh Quilting. My favorite way to express kindness is by donating comfort quilts through my quilt guild & I just finished the top for my next donation.

A belated happy birthday, Yvonne. I have been trying to be kinder to myself recently, but your reminder is a useful one, nonetheless. I hope you had a wonderful day, and that 42 is a good year for you.

  10. Happy belated birthday Yvonne. It is easier to give grace and kindness to others and forget to include your self.

  11. Yvonne, hope your birthday was everything you wished for and more. Wishing you love, joy and peace in the year ahead.

I really appreciate the time and thought you take to comment, and I look forward to conversing with you. :)
