It was a treat to get to sew together the quilt top for Transparent Building Blocks last week, and below I’m sharing a quick GIF that toggles back and forth between the graphic design based on the fabric pull and the pieced quilt top. I love getting to see how similar the quilt can be to the concept!
With the quilt top pieced, it was time to see what fabric I had left and come up with a plan for the quilt backing. I didn’t have enough of the solid Kona Navy for the full back, but I knew that in conjunction with the remaining Kona Enchanted, I could pull something together.

Backing Options
After some quick calculations, I pulled together two options to run past my friends. They liked the option with the green in between the navy, and I bet I can have it pieced and the quilt ready for quilting soon. I’m planning to quilt a spiral using a green thread that matches the Kona Enchanted (the dark green) using my walking foot and a 1″ spacing.
What are you working on this week?
It is so beautiful and precise looking. A spiral would certainly be absolutely gorgeous! How big is this quilt top if you don’t mind me asking?
Looking SO good and yay for a pretty quick quilt back!
That GIF is SUPER cool!!! It’s going to be another wonderful transparency quilt.
Ohhh This looks so great – and what a great comparison from the graphic to the real!!! For your borders – I like both options – that would be hard to choose!
Great graphics in this post! I love the way you show the quilt back options and think what you have chosen will be beautiful.
