I’ve had my June economy block complete for several weeks, but I got busy making quilts and forgot to share about it. Well, since today marks the next block design share by GoGo Kim, I figured I might as well show you what I made!

June Economy Block – Old School BOM
Kerry shared a really delightful version that creates a pocket at the center of the economy block, but I wouldn’t be able to quilt over top of the pocket, so I opted to make a regular economy block.

Love the gray, purple and black. Economy blocks can be tricky. I have the best luck if I paper piece them. Looking forward to seeing how all the blocks go together in the end.
The economy block is simple but very cute and useful. Those fabrics are awesome, too.
That’s so pretty! I like seeing them all together! I put a pocket on one of the blocks in my suitcase quilt, and it’s not been a problem that about 6″ square isn’t quilted 🙂
It is interesting to see all the blocks so far together – it’s a good reminder of the overall colour scheme. Do you have any inkling of how you will set them once you are done?
I’m always intrigued by those blocks that create pockets, but I have the same dilemma as you: how to deal with it when quilting? I love the Economy Block, and could make them forever and a day. It’s a lovely addition to the blocks you’ve already created.
