Love is Love Bonus Quilt

It didn’t take long to puzzle together a layout with the Love is Love bonus blocks from the Sky Full of Stars quilt. And the quilt came together so quickly I was able to get it quilted and finished this week, too!

The bonus quilt measured 50 1/2″ x 60 1/2″ when it was pieced and is now about 49″ x 59″ after quilting, squaring, and binding. The Kona Bone background lets the prints do all the talking.

Now, I would have thought this would have been an easier quilt for my husband to hold than the 48″ x 48″ Sky Full of Stars quilt from last week, but it was too tall for him to kneel and hold and too short for an easy duck behind. Regardless, I’m thankful as always for his willingness to be my quilt stand for photographs!

Love is Love Bonus Quilt - Backing

Love is Love Bonus Quilt – Backing

I opted for Kona Basil for the backing, mostly because I had a full bolt in my stash. For the quilting, I free motion quilted a mixture of rounded meander, hearts, and single loops across the quilt.

And you can get a glimpse of the binding in the photograph of the backing, but this zoomed in detail photos shows off the print pretty well. It’s an old love print that I picked up after Valentine’s day years and years ago, and it felt like the perfect way to frame this quilt. The text doesn’t always show up this perfectly on the front of the quilt, but often enough to have worked out pretty well.

Speaking of working out pretty well, I just have to show you how perfectly the seams match up in the center of the quilt. All of the quarter circle blocks are scraps, so I had no control over where seams would fall, and would you look at how ell the prints aligned here? It was meant to be!

Love the way the bonus quilt went together. I like it better than the original one you did. It has more “pop” than the first one.
