Since the April hexie block is going to take me some time to hand piece, after prepping and getting it ready for hand sewing, I went ahead and pieced the May block for the Old School block of the month sew along. The block for May is from Natalie Santini from Sew Hungry Hippie, and it’s a fun two-for-one block: the stripey cartwheels block.

May Stripey Cartwheels Blocks
Instead of opting for a two tone version of the block like Natalie shared, I pulled 6 different prints. Isn’t is amazing how the two blocks look so different?!

May Blocks – Old School Block of the Month
I think the stripey cartwheels blocks were a great way for me to introduce some of the other colorways that Carolyn often uses in her collections. Well, back to some handwork. I hope to have the hexie block finished soon so I can add another block to this grouping.
Also, eek; the June block designed by Kerry Goulder of Kid Giddy will be released tomorrow!!

Love a good stripe and these just look so fun!!
Gotta love blocks with Carolyn’s fabrics!
I agree, the stripey cartwheels blocks were a great way to introduce some of the other colorways you want to incorporate. Love the ‘two-fer’ of these blocks.
They do look so different and yes, good way to introduce some of the other color ways. Look forward to watching the progression of this sampler.
