Bokeh Quilt Along {Fabric Pull}

Well, there’s nothing quite like being behind in a quilt along you are hosting. I think moving is a pretty good reason, but I am definitely eager to catch up and work along with everyone else. I had a bit of time to organize my sewing space this week, and one of the first things I needed to do was put away the lovely rainbow fabric pull I had brought along with me in case I had some free time to do some handwork (ha, that never happened!!).

As I was going through the bundle of fabric I pulled to sort and put them away in their respective bins, I knew instantly that I was going to use the Create Navy Colour Me Happy Stripes by Kristy from Quiet Play for Riley Blake (the fabric on top in the photo above) as my curve star for the Bokeh quilt along. I have some Kona White on hand, so that is going to be my background. The hard part was selecting the 3 other fabrics that the Bokeh pattern calls for.

Which would you choose? The warm grouping? The cool grouping? The primary colors? The secondary colors?

In the end, I really wanted them all, so I’ll be making 2 warm blocks and 2 cool blocks for my mini quilt version. The quilt along has already moved on to the cutting fabric stage, but if anyone is behind like me and interested in this method, just make sure you cut half of the Fabric B pieces from your two selected B fabrics (red and green for me), half of the Fabric C pieces from your two selected C fabrics (orange and blue for me), and half of the Fabric D pieces from your two selected D fabrics (yellow and purple for me).

The first piecing directions get released on Monday. I wonder if I can get my fabric cut before then??

    Those are beautiful colors. I’m looking forward to the next step and will love to see your mini evolve.

  2. Going half and half works really well. It’s nice to have both the warm and cool colors represented. Hope you’ve been able to catch up a bit.
