Life, Linky Party

Best of 2020

My good friend Cheryl from Meadow Mist Designs is hosting the Best of 2020 link party where we get an opportunity to highlight our “best” 5 posts from 2020. There are no rules on how you define and share your best posts, and I hope you join in with us!

Most Popular Tutorial – 12 Block Circle Setting Quilt Top

While the 12 block circle setting quilt top tutorial is probably not my favorite tutorial that I’ve shared this year, it has the most page views and honestly I have already been tagged on Instagram with several quilts that have been made using the tutorial, which is excellent! What I love about the tutorial is that it encourages quilters to turn orphan blocks into a finished quilt.

Most Popular Pattern Release – Downstream

I released 11 (!!) quilt patterns in 2020, and hands down I can say that people were the most excited about Downstream. Downstream was designed while thinking about the intersection of glassy corporate office buildings, urban living, and natural spaces. The modern, off-grid pattern is offered in six sizes: wall hanging, baby, lap, large lap, twin, and queen.

Most Viewed Finish – Splendid Sampler 2 Quilt

Perhaps it’s because my Splendid Sampler 2 quilt finish was my first finish of 2020, but I suspect that it’s a popular quilt finish because I created my own unique layout using the 42 blocks I pieced during the quilt along.

My Favorite Finish – Mum’s Garden

Hands down my favorite finish this year is Mum’s Garden. It was a very unusual color palette for me and I loved working with the rich, warm colors. It started my creative juices flowing and lead to a lot of piecing exploration, and it was gifted a friend who means a lot to me. There’s nothing I don’t love about Mum’s Garden!

My Second Favorite Finish – Sesen

It’s hard to pick favorites, so I’ll round out my top posts with my most recent finish, Sesen, which is high on my favorites list, too. It must be something I like if I’m already planning to make a second version!

Be sure to hop over to the Best of 2020 link up to join me in catching up on everyone’s year end highlights!

I think my favourite is mums garden followed by splendid sampler.

It must have been really hard to pick the top five. It is quite interesting to see which quilts others pick by the most views, or possibly the most sales, comments etc. I know which ones of yours are my favorites ! But these quilts must be like your children – does it feel a bit disloyal to pick favorites?

I can’t believe I missed seeing your 12 Block post. Don’t know where I was! I think my favorite is the Downstream, those are some of my favorite colors. Thanks for sharing your tops, now I am off to check out your 12 Block.

  4. Izzy says:

A great top 5! And you’ve just reminded me that I have the Downstream pattern – I really should get going on making that one.

  5. Dawn says:

Beautiful quilts! Great picks for your top 5!

  6. Karin says:

All of these are beautiful, I like the Sesen too!

  7. Liz Wilson says:

What eye candy! Your quilts are always so striking and beautiful, I can usually recognize a quilt from you as soon as I see it. Downstream is my favorite, the colors are so soothing and that pop of orange is delicious.

  8. patty says:

Nice to see these again although I’ve no memory of ever seeing the Splendid Sampler one before! I remember your blocks but not the quilt.

  9. I think my favorite is Mum’s Garden, not in my usual colorway, but I love it.

  10. I loved revisiting your quilt finishes and tutorials, thanks so much for taking part in the Best of party! Happy New Year!

Fun to see these all again and how they ranked with your readers – and you! Wishing you a very happy New Year in your new location!

  12. Susan says:

Lovely seeing your Top 5 & I must visit your blog more often & see what comes from your wonderful ideas. The curved piecing quilts are amazing as is the Sampler in that gorgeous setting & the photograph of it in the snow. Thanks for sharing & Hopeful New Year. Take care & hugs from a rather wet down under.

  13. It was fun to take a high-level look at your 2020. Congratulations on all your beautiful finishes. Mum’s Garden is my favorite, too — and the palette would be out of my comfort zone, too! Those colors were bought by the bolt from a LQS that was closing, right? in other words, we’ll see more QJG projects featuring them!

I really appreciate the time and thought you take to comment, and I look forward to conversing with you. :)
