What’s even better than one quilt? Two! The curve star blocks and inset curve stars create scraps that are perfect for squaring up and creating drunkard’s path blocks, so I designed a second quilt using an additional background fabric and the Pistils & Pollen scraps to showcase how Morrison Park looks against a darker background.

Bonus Bouquet
I really adore how the Bonus Bouquet quilt came together. The combination of the tulip blocks, vibrant colors against a darker background, and scrappy rainbow binding all add up to a happy and fun quilt finish! Don’t tell the other quilts I’ve made this year, but the Bonus Bouquet Quilt is the quilt that is currently bringing me the most joy.

Bonus Bouquet Quilting Detail
I used 50wt Aurifil 2630 (Dark Pewter) to piece and free motion quilt a stipple across the entire quilt. While the thread blends into the Kona Cotton Coal background perfectly, it’s honestly harder to see against the brighter prints than you might think.

Laying out the binding
If you remember, I really loved how the binding roll came together all coiled up, so I was curious how it was going to really look on the quilt. I chose to sew the binding on by machine, so I began by laying it out on the back of the quilt, and at this point I knew it was going to be great!

Bonus Bouquet
If you are interested in making your own Bonus Bouquet quilt, it is includes as the bonus quilt pattern in the Pistils & Pollen digital quilt pattern, which is sale through October 5th.
i love the curved piecing but am a little afriad to try it!
This is one of my favorites! How smart you are to use the left overs.
I’ve tried curved piecing a few times, I can never seem to get the seam allowances right. I love the look though….
All of your quilts are lovely but when you say this one is “bringing me the most joy”, it hit me – the design and colors of this one lend it a soft and appealing note. It has the inviting comfort factor the best quilts possess which make a person want to snuggle in it with a cup of tea or cocoa and a homemade cookie. M-m-m-m – perfect!
I love the bonus quilt, almost as much as the first quilt. The binding is really perfect.
Brilliant!!!!
The binding really makes it. Love the large color blocks – very striking quilt.
I love your bonus quilt!
Love the bonus quilt!
Eep! I think this is my favorite finish of yours for the year, too! I always think of you as a solids girl, but your use of prints here and in the companion piece is spot on!
Such a happy quilt, Yvonne! It’s a BIG bonus!
I really love the way this one turned out! Glad it’s made you so happy too 🙂
It really is a fun and bright quilt. That gray really makes the colors pop. Congrats on a beautiful finish.
Very nice and an extra quilt really is a bonus, like the icing on a cake. Take care & stay safe.
