Back in November, I brainstormed ideas for a group quilt. After discussing the ideas with the group, we opted for the following guidelines:
- All blocks will finish at 3″, 6″, or 9″ on any side (3 1/2″, 6 1/2″, or 9 1/2″ unfinished).
- All blocks will have a curve. The curve can be done via piecing, applique, bias tape, or any other desired method.
- Each block will use lime green and a background color.
I reached out to Northcott Fabrics to see if they would provide fabric for the quilt, and although they were happy to provide the fabric, having everything shut down due to Covid19 delayed the arrival of fabric for months.

Northcott ColorWorks Premium Solids
The fabric finally arrived in early June, and they are (from top to bottom):
- 90000-71 Lime
- 9000-252 Marrakech
- 9000-590 Tangerine
- 9000-580 Carrot
- 9000-550 Saffron
- 9000-530 Cheese Sauce
- 9000-314 Shortbread
- 9000-11 Eggshell
I promise there is a bigger value difference between Eggshell and Shortbread than this photograph shows; but only slightly!

Color Palette Mockup
We decided to consider Cheese Sauce and Saffron to be the background colors. Over the next several months, I will be pre-washing the fabric and making blocks to ship off to the group to assemble into a quilt top. Due to receiving the fabric so late in the year, we are aiming to get the quilt complete in time to submit to QuiltCon 2022. Once the quilt top is assembled, it will return to me and I will baste, quilt, and bind it for the finish.
You can never go wrong with lime green, in my opinion! Lovely palette!
I agree with Paige! The lime green really pops!
That is a very pretty grouping of colors, and using curves – what fun! Can’t wait to see this project!
The pallette is so nice and the colors work well together. This should make a lovely quilt.
I am very excited for this project!
A very warm color palette. Looking forward to seeing the finished project.
So YOU are making all the blocks? I do love hearing that Cheese Sauce and Saffron will be BACKGROUND colors! Looking forward to seeing what’s next!
your subliminal mind must be steering you in the direction of that pallet. I look forward to seeing how the group progresses with this
