There are two elements that create transparency quilts: design and color/fabric selection. From a design perspective, transparency is first and foremost about overlapping shapes. The Push-Pull quilt design explores overlapping triangular shapes.
With the design element taken care of, the focus for the first Push-Pull Quilt Along instructions focus on color/fabric selection. If you have already purchased the Push-Pull Quilt Along pattern, you will receive an email today with the Fabric Selection PDF. If you haven’t joined in yet, simply purchase the Push-Pull Quilt Along and I will add you to the email list and get the information out to you soon! Note: Check your spam directory if you don’t see the email!
The Push-Pull Quilt Along fabric selection PDF has 6 pages of information and coloring pages to help you select your fabrics.
Below are a selection of Fabric Kits offered by quilt along sponsor Needle and Foot and pre-selected colorways from quilt along sponsor Fat Quarter Shop for those looking for a little more fabric selection guidance. I include required backing yardage for both regular width of fabric and wide backings in the pattern. If you are interested in a wide backing, Backside Fabrics is offering a 15% off coupon that is good through June 30, 2020: backsidejetgirl1920. I’ll remind you of this coupon code when we get to the finishing instructions, too!
Note that when I selected fabrics for the Wayward Transparency Quilt Along, so much fabric was purchased that some fabrics went out of stock. So if you can’t find what you need using the links below, leave a comment or send me an email and I’ll pull out color cards and adjust as best I can along the way. Looking for something in particular that you don’t see below? Leave a comment and I will either email you back with suggestions or run an updated post with more colorway options depending on the number of requests I receive.
I’ll be sewing along making a queen size quilt for my bed at home. What size and colorway are you planning to sew?

How nice to see all the different colour options.
Will there be quilt kits for color blending colors? Thanks
I am happy to add a color blending option! I’ll collect up new suggestions and share more later in the week.
Can you please post the size chart again
Kay, Is this what you mean by size chart?
The Push-Pull pattern contains instructions for making a baby quilt (44″ x 48″), a lap quilt (66″ x 72″), or a queen size quilt (98″ x 108″).
Hi, thanks for the information and color charts. Is there information about fabric requirements for each quilt size and color way (dark to light / light to dark)?
Gorgeous colors with each of these suggestions! Fuchsias, greens, blues, black and gray – each one looks fantastic.
Oh my goodness Yvonne. I have been having fun looking at the different colour combinations you have posted and checking them with available fabrics. There are quite a few that could work and now I see you might share some colour blending options so I think I will wait for those before my final decision. I’m leaning towards yellow at the moment.
Where do I find the fabric requirements for the quilt? Are they available yet?
Hi Judy,
Have you checked your spam directory for the email(s)? The fabric requirements email went out on Monday. If you can’t find it in the spam directory, I’ll get you a link.
Best,
Yvonne
Lots of good info here Yvonne; wish I had time to join in this one as I’d do the aqua version! Will be watching from the sidelines. -)
Oh my….more choices. How can one possibly make a decision???? ☺
thanks for your ideas!
