Push-Pull - Sample Lap Quilt in Northcott Solids
2019 Finished Quilts, Quilt Gallery

Push-Pull {Completed Quilt}

I was able to finish hand stitching the binding on a lap sized version of Push-Pull the day after Thanksgiving, and I am so smitten with how it all came together!

I used Northcott ColorWorks Premium Solids in Iris, Heather, and Lilac Mist. The backing is Iris and the binding is Heather. After quilting and binding, it finished at 65″ x 70″ (rounding down to the nearest whole number).

The quilting was done by Christine Perrigo from Contemporary Custom Quilting or @ccpquilt on Instagram. She used double batting; a layer of wool over a layer of Quilter’s Dream Dream Green batting.

I was able to get the quilt completed in time to submit to QuiltCon. My artist’s statement reads:

“Life tugs us in different directions, and I designed Push-Pull thinking about how the constraints of societal norms try to push and pull us into boxes of conformity. The quilting was inspired by considering magnetic fields and how magnets have the similar push-pull forces acting on ferrous metallic objects within their spheres of influence.”

    If you teach in VT next year will you bring this with you so I can see it in person? Please… The pattern is beautiful and then the quilting just sends it into a different category, it’s exquisite, I hope some day to be able to quilt like that it takes a lot of talent.

    A beautifully designed and finished quilt. Looking forward to the making my own in the quilt-along.

  4. This just gorgeous – good luck on the entry! I hope to see it when I am there in February. The quilting is magnificent and really adds to the quilt.

  5. Absolutely stunning quilt. Great description for QuiltCon too, I find writing those little descriptions very difficult.

    The quilting is amazing. Wow.

    This is just so gorgeous – I actually said that out loud to myself when I saw the pictures. I can’t wait to get started with this sew along – received my fabrics this last week so I’m ready to go!

  8. WOW! I tend to quilt my own projects and take a minimalist approach when it comes to that quilting, but this is proof positive of how a quilt designer and longarmer can come together and create something amazing. Christine’s quilting gives your design such depth and texture. You two are a quilting dynamic duo!

  9. As always, Yvonne, your ideas and designs are just stunning. I love this.

    I love the graphic design and the transparency. The fancy quilting really adds to your design. What a great collaboration! Thank you for linking up with Show Me Something Purple.

I really appreciate the time and thought you take to comment, and I look forward to conversing with you. :)
