I have been anticipating piecing these two blocks since I received my Splendid Sampler 2 book in the mail. Sometimes simplicity in design allows fabric selection shine!
There’s Always One by Jennifer Keltner is such a fun, playful block, and I just had to feature my astronaut cat prints in these flying geese blocks.
Shruti Dandekar created the Twice As Much! block, and the scale of the piecing really pulled me in and made me think of looking up at the stars at night. Nothing really creates that sense of wonder and scale for me like looking at the stars. If you haven’t seen Shruti’s masterpiece quilt, Shivarajyabhishek, please go take a look!
Be sure to visit The Splendid Sampler website to see the other 2 blocks revealed today. And if you are sewing along, don’t forget to link up (on The Splendid Sampler site) your pieced version of any of the 4 blocks from today’s reveal to be entered to win a prize.

I immediately thought of looking up at the sky when I saw your version of the Twice As Much! block. Beautiful!
If you put everybody’s blocks together, I am sure I could pick yours out!
Hello Yvonne, I always get a big smile and enjoy the blocks you create using your astronaut kitty fabric! I even said out loud “How did she miss that!” Then laughed at myself as the name of the block clicked! As always, thank you for sharing your blocks and today you made my morning a much brighter one! Have a great day, Yvonne!
I love the fussy cutting that you did for the astronaut cats!
Beautiful! Your fabric choices are really shining in these blocks.
Love those kitty astronauts! They are perfect for this block. I can hardly wait to see this quilt together.
Great blocks – and that quilt – it must be absolutely amazing in person.
Love the fussy cutting of the kitties!
Nice! I love how you featured the astronaut cats!
very nice blocks!
These are really fun blocks. I love “there’s always one” and the scale of the second block. Kitty is perfect!
I’m really enjoying the blocks that you are making for this sampler quilt. That Twice as Much block is so interesting, and I think an entire quilt made with this block would be amazing. I may need to buy yet one more quilting book! Take care, Mary.
