Technically, I pieced 3 of the 4 blocks revealed today in the Splendid Sampler 2 sew along. But in reality, I added 4 blocks to my growing pile!
Jody Sanders presents us with the lovely Iowa Star block this week. The block is paper pieced and is one that will look wonderful in a wide range of colors.
Lee Monroe from May Chappell created a fun block she named Come Together. I think that the sun print in the center of my version might be my favorite fussy cutting to date in my blocks for the sew along.
Which brings me to the final blocks I pieced this week (sort of, stand by for more on that in a moment). Match Point by Mary Honaker (Apron Strings) is a fast and fun sew.
And the process of making one block allows for a second one to quickly follow. So these are the 4 blocks I’ve added this week. Be sure to visit The Splendid Sampler website to see the other block revealed today. And if you are sewing along, don’t forget to link up (on The Splendid Sampler site) your pieced version of any of the 4 blocks from today’s reveal to be entered to win a prize.

Hello Yvonne, Each and every one of these blocks somehow shows that you had fun making them! In the Iowa Star, I like the way you matched the fabric sections so nicely. Creating a perfect star to gaze upon. The Come Together Block is magnificent with your special fussy cut smiling sun! I just love this block, Yvonne, it adds so much fun and personality to the block! Great Choice! The Match Point blocks are also so fun with the kitties in their space suits being mirror imaged. I can hardly wait to see your whole quilt finished! Thank you so much for sharing! I keep forgetting to ask about your lovable kitty (please forgive my memory Yvonne, I am forgetting your special kitties name) and how she is doing? Have a marvelous day!
Great blocks! I really like your fussy cutting.
These are gorgeous! This quilt is going to be so much fun to visually explore!
These are great blocks! I do especially like the paper pieced star and I admire the way you achieve such perfect meeting of points in the other blocks.
Each block is fabulous! I love how you fussy cut the sun for the center of the Come Together block. And now I have the Beatles song in my head, which isn’t a bad thing. Of all the blocks and QAL’s I see, yours is the one I cannot wait to see finished! The color combination continues to grow on me with each set of blocks!
The blocks you’re making for the Splendid Sampler are gorgeous! The fussy cutting of the sun is the best—but you’re really rocking these!
each and every one of these blocks are so covetable. Every time I have a favourite, along comes another to trump the last and become my new favourite. Your photography has been great too. I look forward to seeing this come together and see it quilted. That will be tomorrow then? Insert smiley face here
Love that fussy cut center square with the sun!
Come Together may be my all time favorite – so far!!
I love these blocks! The fabric you have chosen works so well for them. Thanks for continuing to inspire and motivate me! Take care, Mary.
