Splendid Sampler II – Lauren’s Flower Basket and Fresh Start

I am starting to really be on a roll with the Splendid Sampler 2 sew along! With the addition of the 2 blocks I pieced for today, I am up to 25 finished blocks.

The first block I pieced for this week is Lauren’s Flower Basket by Annette Plog. I can already envision setting this block on point. We’ll see if that’s what happens in the final layout or not.

It’s been a while since I used the fun glasses print in my blocks, so I am happy I was able to work it into Fresh Start which was designed by Kat Tucker from Next Step Quilt Designs.

Overall I am really happy with how all my blocks are looking together! And I’m pretty darn pleased I’m still sewing a block or two a week. I am hoping I can get about 40 blocks pieced by the end of the sew along which is only 15 more. Just keep sewing, right??

Be sure to visit The Splendid Sampler website to see the other 2 blocks revealed today. And if you are sewing along, don’t forget to link up (on The Splendid Sampler site) your pieced version of any of the 4 blocks from today’s reveal to be entered to win a prize.

Wow – seeing these altogether is impressive. Having the cohesive fabric/color scheme makes all the difference with this. I am really liking it a LOT. Thanks for your excellent blogging and sharing.

Love the photo of all your blocks! And this week’s basket – so timeless, that one. You’ll be done making blocks before you know it!

  4. Your blocks are beautiful and your photography skills are pretty darn good too! You’ve maintained consistent lighting and placement.

  6. Love the glasses in the fresh start block. The quilt photograph and its symmetry is quite something – a really fun photo layout for a sampler..

My first thought was that the basket was one of my favourite blocks you’ve made for this, but then I saw all your photos together and realise I like them all a lot. I think your restrained colour range is perfect; it holds all the different elements together really well.

  10. Oh I saw these on IG, and love how they look together! I also just love how each one has the same background 🙂 Nice!

I love the way you’ve styled these blocks individually but seeing them together is totally inspirational! This is a fantastic colour palette!

Lcve your mosaic photos and your styling! It makes me want to do this! I do have rather a stash of Carolyn Friedlander fabrics, I really should use them. I look at them often!

I really appreciate the time and thought you take to comment, and I look forward to conversing with you. :)
