The Splendid Sampler 2 sew along continues this week and a few more quilting friends get to reveal and share their block designs today!

Star Plus – Splendid Sampler II Block
The Star Plus block is by Cheryl from Meadow Mist Designs. Of course it contains a plus sign and is representative of her family, the stars in her life.

Connection – Splendid Sampler II Block
The Connection block is by Sheri from Whole Circle Studio, and I explored using a dark background for this block. It works, but it would have worked better if I used a lighter yellow print, I think.
Be sure to visit The Splendid Sampler website to see the other 2 blocks revealed today. And if you are sewing along, don’t forget to link up (on The Splendid Sampler site) your pieced version of any of the 4 blocks from today’s reveal to be entered to win a prize.
Gorgeous blocks, I haven’t had time to do any for ages I must try and get back to them soon xx
I love your version of Star Plus, it is beautiful!
Hello Yvonne, I really was amazed at Cheryl’s block. This is going to sound very silly, but my first thoughts were that the little plus sign was trying to play hide and seek. LOL. The plus sign does not get lost at all in the design, if anything it is a lovely focal point. But that was what my brain really said. So, I just had to share it with you. Her block is very nicely planned and balanced. I do agree with you on your block, your yellow should have been lighter. I very seldom say anything in a negative way about a quilters work. I love all of the perfect points in your block. Yet, the yellow you chose does get lost. One question Yvonne, is your block paper pieced or pieced? Math and Science are two subjects I always struggle with. I do however like the fabric you used and think it would be a great choice to use for anyone interested in these two topics! Thank you so much for sharing these two fabulous creative blocks today and have a fantastic day!
Both blocks are lovely, Yvonne!
That Star Plus block design by Cheryl is so unique. Your photo of your block really grabbed me, and I love your version of it. It’s interesting how we quilters can second guess ourselves over our choices. I think the dark blue of the Connection block will work well with your other blocks, and honestly, not everything has to pop! Contrast is great, but subtleties provide a little more depth. Have a great day, Mary.
Lovely blocks Yvonne!
Love both of these blocks! Maybe a brighter yellow would have been better, but I’m guessing there will be a place for this one regardless in the quilt at the end!
Both blocks are terrific and yes, maybe a brighter piece would have been better, but I can still see the design -and that’s a good thing.
Lovely blocks and I like the darker background on the second one. I am imagining it will create a moment of stillness as the eye scans the whole quilt.
I just love the fabrics you’re using for your blocks. I may sound funny, but they have a signature Yvonne feel about them. These blocks just highlight those fabrics so much. Can’t wait to see your entire quilt when it’s done.
