I couldn’t let the blocks I made to create the Combinatorics Introductory Tutorial that I shared last month go to waste. They quickly sewed into a mini quilt top and over the weekend I was able to get it quilted and bound.
I couldn’t help myself and hung the new mini quilt next to the original Combinatorics mini quilt that I created in the summer of 2017 when I first came up with and explored the idea.
This time I chose to finish the mini quilt with contrasting binding. I also used a walking foot to do the quilting and followed the same general quilting plan as the original mini quilt but with a little less dense quilting.
Beyond using a contrasting binding, I also quilted in contrasting 50wt Aurifil thread on my domestic machine (a Juki TL-2200QVP Mini) using my walking foot. In the off-white areas I used 50wt Aurifil 2840 (Loden Green) and in the green areas I used 50wt Aurifil 2000 (Light Sand).
The mini quilt is made using Studio e Fabrics Modern Batiks. It was nice to be inside over a wet and cold weekend finishing up this mini quilt. There are only a few more weeks in the year to try and sneak in another finish; is there anything you hope to get completed?
Linking up with Amanda’s final Finish it Friday. Thank you Amanda, for everything over the years and best wishes for the next chapter!
