It’s hard to keep a secret, so I am glad to finally get to share the details of my collaboration with Pattern Drop with you today! Originally, I signed a contract to share one of my previous quilt pattern designs with Pattern Drop subscribers, but I know we all love a new pattern (right??), so instead I am excited to announce the release of the Flight Path Quilt pattern today through Pattern Drop.

The Flight Path quilt design was inspired by runway markings and airplane silhouettes. The pattern is written so that you can make the most of directional prints used within the arrow shapes, keeping everything pointed in the same direction. The pattern includes instructions for creating your own version of the quilt in 4 different sizes: baby, lap, twin, and queen.

I have made several versions of the Flight Path quilt as gifts for friends over the years.

As you can see, the Flight Path pattern is perfect for using novelty and directional prints.

    Yvonne,
I have always loved this pattern, every time I see it, the color palettes that you find and mix together always fit just right for whatever occasion you are going for! You have an eye and a talent for color and patterns. I am always questioning myself, having someone look over things as I am in the twisting and turning phases of my projects, usually my mom and she here’s her name hollered from the cellar… and she comes running to help me get things in just the right spot so I don’t overload corners with darks or lights as I’m trying to come up with an even amount on all sides. My Tommy has been known to go fabric shopping with me as well, the man has a pretty good eye for color as well, he has helped me pick out my fabrics for both of your QALs…

I love the colours you’ve used on this latest version and seeing how well all these different versions have turned out, it’s clearly a great design! Patterndrop seems like an interesting collaboration model.

  4. Cindy Pieters says:

Love the how you used the idea of airplanes and runway markings to design this wonderful pattern.

  5. Jan O says:

Congrats on the pattern release! Flight Path looks great in all the colorways shown, but I could also see it in a Southwest palette to give it a Santa Fe vibe instead of an aviation theme. Very versatile – good job!

  6. Ooh, I love this one! And what a grin I got seeing the backing: I used that same Joe Dewberry fabric but in pink on the front of Flow, my version of your Wayward Transparency QAL! Love the quilting on the magenta too.

  7. Jayne says:

Its always amazing how a quilt design changes with the fabrics used! I enjoy seeing the different version you put together Yvonne! Always inspiring!

Congrats on another new pattern Yvonne. This would be such a great gift for pilots because I saw the plane silhouettes before I even knew the quilt name and flight connection.

  9. Tish says:

Congratulations on this release! This would be a fun one to custom quilt and play with ghost shapes in the background 🙂

A great pattern Yvonne. I love the new version in those beautiful fabrics and the bright yellow backing is perfect and set off beautifully with the binding which also adds to the front. Gorgeous
