Apparently pattern releases come in waves for me, so fair warning, stay tuned! Today, I am excited to finally release my Star Cube digital quilt pattern. I originally designed the Star Cube pattern for the International Association for Quilters last year. I had an opportunity to get the pattern included in an issue of Modern Quilts Unlimited, but when the magazine closed earlier this year, it meant that the publication would not happen. Ultimately, I decided to self-publish the pattern.
Star Cube creates a bold, modern baby or lap quilt. You can choose to feature focal prints in the center of each square, focus on creating a 3D effect, or let the secondary star pattern shine.
The design inspiration for Star Cube is literally a 3D cube line drawing. It is a doodle that I have sketched for almost as long as I can remember, and it finally dawned on me that I could piece it and turn it into a quilt!
Many thanks to Cheryl from Meadow Mist Designs for her technical editing help and review of the pattern. My patterns are always improved after Cheryl reviews them for me!
To celebrate the Star Cube digital pattern release, it will be on sale for $8 through September 14th.
I just purchased your pattern, love it. Congrats on getting it published.
Star Cube in tints of yellow is perfect for a baby quilt! Congrats on the release!
That yellow version is perfection, Yvonne! Sorry to hear the publication got cancelled, but yay for self-publishing 😉
This is a very striking quit and looks great in both of your fabric choices. I’m very happy that you decided to publish this yourself, and I look forward to making one of my own. Thanks for the discounted price!
Glad you found a way to get your pattern out there!
The finished yellow quilt in this pattern is stunning!
Great quilt; funny when you say you have doodled cubes forever, me too! Many years ago (uh oh, just thought of another TBT potential lol) I took a 3D cube class with a twist, there was an evening star on the 3 cube sides (some work with 60-degree angles ensued…). Cheryl is always such a discerning eye on patterns, and I just love the fabrics you’ve used in the cover quilt.
Congrats on this pattern release. I love seeing how different the two quilts are. It is fascinating to me.
I love this design, Yvonne! It would look incredibly different depending on how you arranged the fabrics…even if you use the same few fabrics you would get a different look just by moving them around. It’s kind of mesmerizing, lol 🙂
Another beautiful design and such a great pattern!
I love your design!
Congrats on a the release. It’s a fun pattern.
Looking forward to working with the pattern.
