I was out of town when Cheryl (Meadow Mist Designs) and Paige (Quilted Blooms) released the first set of piecing instructions for their Modern Plus Sampler Quilt Along: Tribal Rows. Once I got home and settled, I was excited to dig in to see how my fabric selections for the QAL begin to work together.

Modern Plus Sampler Tribal Rows
We worked with 3 of the 6 fabrics this month: Fabric A (Kaffe Fassett Shot Cotton in Pudding), Fabric B (Kona Cotton in Cerise), and Fabric D (Kona Cotton in Silver). The Kona Silver is such a light gray that it reads closer to white in my photos.

The rows came together quickly using a bit of chain piecing to speed the process along.

With instructions released once a month (on the first Thursday of the month), there is still plenty of time for you to join us if you like!
Looking good Yvonne. My granddaughter loves the colours, she claims it is pink and beautiful.
What an interesting colour combination! I’m really looking forward to seeing how this comes together! Are you doing the combination of applique and straight piecing for yours?
I love the way this is turning out – those colors are gorgeous together. I keep gettng tempted but next one around I’ll be in!
What a beautiful start!
I love the colors of this one, Yvonne! It just pops!
I love the colors you are using! I’m so excited to see the finished quilt now!
Great fabric choices. I like the idea of the Konas with a Shot Cotton – it will likely add a little texture. Really pretty colors too.
These look great. I hope to join in but haven’t pulled my fabrics yet….
Hello Yvonne; Your fabric choices for this quilt are stunning! A question, Yvonne, “Do you feel confident in choosing your quilt fabrics?”. I have been following your blog for quite some time and have learned so much from you. To me, you always come across as being confident in every aspect of every thing you do in life. From certain posts I know that is not always the case, but you still come at everything with such confidence. It is one of the reasons I “look up” to you as a quilter I would like to be like. This quilt immediately caught my attention and held it. I kept thinking before I read your post, that I wish that I could chose fabric combinations like Yvonne does. Thank you for sharing all that you do! Now have a spectacular day creating quilts or doing anything else today!!
It looks beautiful Yvonne. I’ve used Kona Silver in my Quilters planner quilt and it pretty much looked white in the photos as well.
so cute! good job!
This is looking beautiful! I really like the choice of Kona Silver for the background.
