Splendid Sampler II Sew Along {Starts Today!}

In anticipation of the Splendid Sampler II book release (non-affiliate link), the Splendid Sampler II sew-along is kicking off today. 80 quilt designers from all over the world (including yours truly!) have contributed blocks to this fantastic sampler quilt book. The sew-along is going to give a variety of 20 of the Splendid Sampler II blocks to download weekly and make.

Yvonne's Splendid Sampler II Fabric Selection

Yvonne’s Splendid Sampler II Fabric Selection

I know that I will be sewing only a selection of the full 100 blocks from the Splendid Sampler, so my fabric selection is more limited than suggested. I based my fabric selection around the lovely Rae Ritchie Supernova FQ bundle gifted to me by my friend Sarah from Smiles Too Loudly. I paired those super fun prints (cats in space – squee!!) with some Carolyn Friedlander and other coordinating prints from my stash. At the top is Kona Snow, and I will definitely add in more prints and fabrics as needed as we sew along. For more details on the fabric suggestions, be sure to read the Splendid Sampler II Let’s Talk Fabric post.

Quilt Market – Splendid Sampler II Block

The first block, Quilt Market (released today), is by Alex Veronelli from Aurifil. Quilt Market is a really fun block that allowed me to use most of the prints from my fabric pull.

Will you be sewing along? Be sure to visit The Splendid Sampler for all the details and instructions for making the Quilt Market block!

    That is a fun batch of prints you’ve pulled, and they make up really nicely in that first block. I don’t tend to participate in these types of samplers, but it is always fun to see what others are doing. I’ll follow your progress with interest.

    Hello Yvonne; Such a fabulous bundle of fabrics you are using for your blocks. They are really highlighted in this fun block! I look forward to seeing all of your blocks. No, I am not doing this Sew Along. Far to many other projects going on to start another one; although, I was so tempted! Thank you for sharing your fabrics and great block! Have a splendid day!

    I sewed along with initial program but never finished the project….will fill in with second project…..I enjoy making the variety of blocks as they are rolled out….and it is fun to see everyone’s fabric selections…

    This is such a tempting QAL! I love the fabrics you used. I think if I do it…I may go scrappy or maybe all solids! Big surprise, right?!

  10. And I still have not finished my splendid sampler 1 …
    Oh, the quilter’s guilt.

    I love your fabric selection Yvonne. I have always like the Friedlander fabrics and the space fabrics are great too. I like those too. I have quite a selection of Carolyn Friedlander which I keep for “that something special”. Maybe a sampler quilt is the way to go, or some sort of strippy quilt

  12. Oh what a fun selection of fabrics! I love navy & the golds will add a wonderful pop of color. I’ll have to go check it out but will have my hands full as a co-host of Moda Bake Shop’s mystery QAL. But I’ll tag aling to enjoy your journey.

I really appreciate the time and thought you take to comment, and I look forward to conversing with you. :)
