Instagram Photo Challenge, Quilt Theory

#MissingMarket

Spring quilt market is being held in Portland, Oregon, this week, and images are about to flood our social media channels. Quilt Market is the Quilting Industry’s equivalent to Spring and Fall Fashion Week in NYC and Paris. Every fabric manufacturer, sewing machine manufacturer, and designers of fabrics / patterns / notions attend Quilt Market to share new and exciting products with shop owners and distributors for them to choose the best of the best to bring to you in your local shops! Whew!

Which brings me to #MissingMarket. Quilt Market is a trade only event and closed to the general public. Because everyone cannot attend Quilt Market, a group of industry professionals comes together twice a year to host #MissingMarket so we can all have fun in our own way: an Instagram Party including giveaways!

Kim (@gogokim) and Heather (@thesewingloft) have organized this fun Instagram Party to celebrate all of us that will be #missingmarket with surprise guest hosts every three hours. The hosts are all wonderful and are volunteering to have fun, guide you if you need help and are there to share in your photo challenge fun. Plus there are going to be some pretty great giveaways!

The party will Start May 17 with an introductory round for you to say hello and share #fivethingsaboutme!

The event will start and end with the start and end of Market in Portland, Oregon.

All of the times are for PST
May 18   9:30 a.m.-6 p.m.
May 19   9:30 a.m.-6 p.m.
May 20   9:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

To play along:

Go-Go Kim and TheSewingLoft will announce the upcoming host at just before the time change for you to follow along and participate.

The wonderful host will post the challenge, then will post a photo of the rules and the prize that will be won!!!! Each host is responsible for their giveaways. Please contact them with any questions. You are not required to do all of the challenges just the ones that interest you but you are encouraged to play along just because it can be exciting!

Make sure you use the hashtag #missingmarket so you can be found in the searches! We do not want to miss anything you are doing!

In case you didn’t see the announcement earlier this week, I also wanted to share that Quilt Theory will no longer be selling or producing patterns as of August 1, 2018. All the details can be found the Quilt Theory Epilogue blog post. My deepest thanks to everyone who followed along and supported us on the Quilt Theory journey.

I always enjoy the #missingmarket! Its a fun way to be apart of the ‘festivities’! Sad news about QUilt Theory. It was a really great idea. Lives changes and priorities change…all good stuff though!

Looks to be a great deal of fun. Hope your visit with your husband’s grandmother goes well. Hospice is one of the best ways for families to deal with death, and often it is a comforting/life giving experience for the person in hospice.

I have always watched and enjoyed the whole MissingMarket weekend on Instagram. It is a fun couple of days. Thinking of you and your husband as you go say goodbye to his grandma. I liked hearing she is still playing Words with Friends with you. That is so sweet.

Special thank you goes out to all of you hosting this event. I’ll be setting up for our local quilt show on Friday, hosting it on Saturday and will be watching carefully all the posts on Sunday.

  8. It’s sad that I’ll even be missing #missingmarket as we’ll be on a cruise to the Bahamas without access to internet much of the time. Oh well. It’s a good reason to miss it.

I hadn’t heard about Quilt Theory — I’m sorry to hear you are closing up shop! You all produced a really great collection of patterns and I’ve bought a couple of them myself. Best of luck to each of you — I know you will continue making great things!

I missed this instagram event as well as the market itself – I am clearly way out of touch! Good luck to you, and the other members of Quilt Theory, as you continue to make you way in the quilt world – I’m sure you will continue to enjoy success.
