I really like improvisation, but I am not the quickest when doing it myself. I am happy to say that I have all my improv blocks for the Murrina quilt from Stash Statement pieced together and my sewing area has been tidied back up. Whew, that brings me a lot of peace of mind!

Murrina – Improv Blocks Pieced
Up next will be seeing how all these blocks change as I follow the pattern and add in my background color, Kona Breakers. Fingers crossed that the colors stay bright and vibrant!

Murrina – Fabric Pull
This is how everything looked in my fabric pull, but I will have substantially more background fabric in proportion to the pieced blocks. I look forward to seeing how it comes together!
I am sure that if you add a solid, it will be even more stunning. They are great blocks.
I love how your blocks have come together. I can’t wait to watch the transformation.
Sometimes it’s hard for yellow to stand up against other colors, but the intensity of the yellows you have chosen are holding their own! Looking forward to your next steps of adding the solid.
I am so excited to continue seeing this coming together! I like that you incorporated some angular piecing in your slabs too.
It’s so fun to see you doing improv, and your blocks are looking great! Can’t wait to see them against the Kona Breakers. I love to do improv, and don’t mind the mess while I’m working, but once I’m done the mess has to be cleaned up immediately.
Looks like it should work – hope you’ll be happy with the results.
Getting closer and closer! I’m so excited to see the final product. To me the thing I hate most about improv is a messy table, so I understand that sense of happiness when the sewing area is all tidied up.
Hello Yvonne; The fabrics you chose to make each one of your blocks are lovely and work so perfectly together. I agree with Paige about the yellows you have chosen also. I think they will stand out beautifully. It has been such a long time since I have done Improv that I would have so much and make such a mess that my husband would put up a net around my sewing table. Ha, Ha, Ha… would that not be a great picture! I am looking forward to seeing more of this project as it progresses, so please share as you go along! Have a great day!
Looking forward to seeing where this goes! Love what you have so far!
I like what I’m seeing. I think I need to hire you to be my personal fabric shopper….but where would I put it all!!
Looking SO good!
You have a wonderful collection of fabrics, this time I’m drawn to the pinks, wonderful. The book isn’t available in the UK yet, this is so tantalising.
I’m sure it will be beautiful Yvonne: You have very beautiful fabric scraps in it.
I think improv is like most things- the more you do, the easier it becomes, the more clearly you can feel what you need to do. I am faster because it’s all I do, but give me traditional piecing and you could probably make an entire quilt in the time it takes me to get one really nicely done block. 🙂
I love how these look together! Having finished my Murrina top yesterday, I’m pleasantly surprised by how well the scrappy blocks hold their own against the much larger background. It will be fun to see how yours look…the monochromatic look of the scrappy blocks is so pretty.
Your blocks look very good, very scrappy yet very cohesive colorwise.
Cool set of blocks up on that wall of yours. You’ve been busy! I love that aqua–I also hope it keeps all the colors supercharged and bright. And again, thanks for that beautiful bouquet of flowers. I hope your Mother’s Day was lovely. I was able to talk to my mother and it was great.
You started with some fun brights. Looking forward to see what’s coming next.
I’ve been having fun catching up on your blog. I love seeing your creations. This will be a beautiful quilt.
I am interested to see whqat it looks like with the Breaker background. I love these blocks so much.
